Support the materials engineer with the vehicle teams and core engineering to resolve material compatibility, warranty, production, and processing problems encountered during the life of a part or subsystem. The emphasis is on teamwork with Ford engineering, material suppliers, Tier one's, purchasing, laboratory engineers, other materials engineers and manufacturing plant personnel.

 

Technical support of Materials used in Body Interior Components and Assemblies such as:

·         Headliners System

·         Energy Absorbing/NVH Foam 

·         Interior/Engine Lighting System

·         Removable Roof Systems

·         Roof Opening Panel System  

·         All Window Shades  

 

Support Body Interior Materials by:

1.             Attend core functional tech club meetings.

2.             Reviewing and signing off Engineering Drawings via TeamCenter.

3.             Updating material/performance specifications, approved source lists & test methods.

4.             Assisting in the resolution of assembly, manufacturing, durability & field issues. Liaison between the lab and engineering and manufacturing.  Initiate lab requests as required.

5.             Supporting Research and Innovation Center in special research projects.

Supporting the approval and release of new technology materials that lower cost, reduce weight, improve quality or contribute to sustainability targets.

MINIMUM EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, AND /OR SKILL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in a related Engineering discipline. Materials Engineering, Chemical Engineering, and Materials Science preferred.

  • Strong interpersonal skills

  • Open to be mentored, coached, and trained

  • Strong focus and attention to detail

  • Self-motivated and self-driven

  • Strong organizational skills

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
