Amentum is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Carpenter with an active TS/SCI clearance to support specialized construction projects, particularly within Sensitive Compartmented Information Facility (SCIF) environments. The ideal candidate will have expertise in the installation of SHW hardware, X-10 locks, STC-rated doors, closers, frames, drywall, finish work, carpet, ceiling tiles, and grid systems. This position requires advanced knowledge of SCIF standards and the ability to work efficiently in a secured construction setting, ensuring all installations align with strict security and acoustic requirements.

This role involves OCONUS (Outside the Continental United States) work and requires a commitment to a 60-hour work week. Hours will be 10-hour days, Friday through Wednesday. The ability to meet these schedule demands is a key requirement of the position.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Install, adjust, and maintain SHW hardware, including precision work with highly secure locking mechanisms such as X-10 locks.
  • Assemble, install, and secure STC-rated doors, frames, and accompanying hardware, including closers, ensuring compliance with acoustic and security standards for SCIF spaces. Experience with vault doors is essential.
  • Frame, cut, and install drywall and finish with attention to soundproofing and structural requirements.
  • Lay and install carpet, as well as ceiling tiles and grid systems, ensuring seamless, high-quality finishes.
  • Construct and maintain partitions, enclosures, and other interior SCIF features with adherence to exacting standards.
  • Understand and implement SCIF-specific construction protocols, including sound attenuation, TEMPEST requirements, and compliance with ICD/ICS 705 standards.
  • Measure and cut construction materials with precision using hand and power tools, ensuring accurate alignment and craftsmanship.
  • Work collaboratively with a team while maintaining the integrity of secure environments and adhering to strict confidentiality protocols.
  • Conduct thorough quality checks on all installations to meet or exceed performance and security standards.
  • Proactively plan and organize project elements, including putting together material lists, reviewing submittals and specifications, and compiling BOM (Bill of Materials) lists to ensure seamless project continuation.
  • Use three-week look-aheads to plan ahead and identify potential issues, ensuring the project remains on schedule and avoids standstills.

Qualifications:

  • Active TS/SCI clearance (Required).
  • Proven experience in carpentry with a focus on secured environments such as SCIFs.
  • Proficiency in the installation of SHW hardware, X-10 locks, and STC-rated doors and frames.
  • Solid understanding of SCIF-specific construction requirements, including soundproofing, TEMPEST, and ICD 705 standards.
  • Familiarity with drywall installation, finishing techniques, and ceiling tile/grid installation.
  • Strong knowledge of safety regulations and the ability to work in high-security environments.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and complete tasks under tight schedules.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prior experience working on government or military construction projects.
  • Certification in construction methods related to secure spaces is a plus.
  • The ability to compile material lists, read and interpret drawings, and review submittals and specifications.

If you are a highly skilled carpenter looking to perform meaningful work in a secure and challenging environment, we encourage you to apply and become an integral part of our specialized construction team.
