About the OpportunityEnergy Programmes is one of our newest Business Units and has been formed with the vision to support positive change and help shape the future of Nuclear Power. Our embedded teams are delivering support to Hinkley Point C (New build power station in the South West), Sizewell C (located in the South East), helping develop technologies in SMR (Small modular Reactor) capability and working towards building Poland's first Energy Power station.
Working in both client facing and internal roles we are delivering major programme and project management capabilities throughout the project lifecycle. We are driving to deliver safe, high quality and to time solutions by thinking innovatively and working collaboratively.
As a Contract Engineering Lead, you’ll lead the technical and engineering support to manufacturing contractors delivering equipment to site across the Nuclear Island and Conventional Island/Balance of Plant buildings. Reporting to an Operational Lead within the Joint Design Office (JDO), you’ll work closely with various stakeholders, including contractors, construction teams, quality teams, project management, and design teams, ensuring seamless integration across disciplines.
Your role will be pivotal in supporting site-based engineering by technically managing the contract, helping maintain project schedules, and optimising workflow efficiency. The JDO was established to enhance site-based engineering responsiveness, minimising delays and ensuring construction teams receive swift, actionable engineering support.
Responsibilities: - Leading contract technical meetings and attending project meetings
- Steering resolution of technical issues and queries
- Review and approval of contractor deliverables and design where necessary
- Control and Management of the technical and engineering evolution of the contract, including design changes
- Review of contract amendments and exemptions ahead of Project Manager approval
- Coordinate Engineering Multi-Disciplinary Team in Front-Office (JDO) and back-offices to perform the above tasks.
- Work with the Project Managers on resource and budget planning to ensure the requirements of the contract are met to safety, quality, time and cost
- Reporting of KPIs to the Project Managers and the JDO leadership team
- Help to upskill other members of the team, including other less experienced CELs
- Degree or equivalent experience in an Engineering or Scientific Discipline
- Understanding of construction and installation, Health & Safety legislation and CDM
- The ability to apply multi-disciplinary technical knowledge to assess and challenge engineering designs
- Technical background on mechanical equipment, rotating equipment, steelwork or similar
- IT literate with strong communication and collaboration skills
- Spoken and written English (B2 or higher)
