At Amentum, we believe that data tells a story - and we're looking for a Senior Data Analyst who can help us read between the lines. If you're passionate about using analytics to solve complex challenges, improve performance, and support mission-critical decisions, we want to hear from you.

As a Senior Data Analyst, you won’t just crunch numbers - you’ll lead high-level functional and systems analysis efforts that shape how our organization and our clients operate. You’ll play a vital role in identifying trends, uncovering inefficiencies, and recommending actionable solutions grounded in data, experience, and hands-on insight.

This is more than just a technical role - it’s a leadership opportunity. You’ll act as a trusted advisor across multiple teams, applying your deep expertise to guide decision-makers through the full analysis cycle: from initial planning and data gathering to interpretation and implementation. Your contributions will directly impact organizational effectiveness and the mission success of those we support.

If you're ready to use your skills to influence change, drive innovation, and be recognized as an authority in your field - join us at Amentum and transform data into meaningful action.

Responsibilities:

As a Senior Data Analyst at Amentum, your days will be dynamic, intellectually engaging, and mission-focused. You’ll be a key player in turning complex data into strategic insights that drive organizational success. On a typical day, you can expect to:

• Collaborate with stakeholders across business, technical, and leadership teams to gather data requirements and understand business challenges.

• Extract, clean, and validate large data sets from various sources to ensure accuracy and consistency for analysis.

• Develop advanced data models, dashboards, and visualizations to identify trends, forecast performance, and support decision-making.

• Perform root cause analyses to uncover underlying issues and identify areas for process or performance improvement.

• Lead high-level system and functional analysis efforts to recommend data-driven enhancements to business processes or system design.

• Prepare and deliver technical reports, executive briefings, and visual storyboards that communicate complex findings in an accessible, actionable format.

• Mentor junior analysts and cross-functional teams, sharing best practices and providing guidance on tools, methodologies, and data strategy.

• Engage in continuous improvement initiatives, evaluating existing systems and procedures and recommending scalable, data-backed solutions.

• Monitor key operational metrics, such as inventory trends and resource allocation, and develop models to improve forecasting and efficiency.

• Serve as a subject matter expert, offering insight and leadership on analytics best practices, emerging tools, and industry trends.

This role offers the opportunity to lead and influence - not just analyze. You'll be embedded in the decision-making process, making your expertise central to both internal initiatives and customer-facing solutions.

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in Data Science, Statistics, Computer Science, Information Systems, Business Analytics, or a related field.

• 5+ years of experience in data analysis, business intelligence, or related analytical roles.

• Proven experience extracting, cleaning, and validating large data sets from multiple sources for analysis.

• Strong proficiency in analytical tools and languages such as:

• SQL (T-SQL, PL/SQL)

• Excel (advanced functions, pivot tables, etc.)

• Python or R (for statistical analysis or data wrangling)

• Experience with data visualization and dashboarding tools, such as:

• Power BI, Tableau, or Qlik

• Ability to translate complex analytical insights into clear, actionable recommendations through reports, briefings, and visualizations.

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact with technical and non-technical stakeholders at all levels.

• Demonstrated experience conducting root cause analysis and using data to drive business or operational improvements.

• Strong organizational and time-management skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks under tight deadlines.
