Amentum is seeking an Electrical Utility Manager to support a unique US Navy program on the island of Diego Garcia. The Electrical Utility Manager will oversee the operation, maintenance, and management of electrical systems to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient delivery and performance of utility systems. The role also includes quality management, administration, and adherence to safety and operational standards. Specific responsibilities include but are not limited to the following.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Managing the operation and maintenance of engine-driven generators, medium-voltage electrical equipment, and associated switchgear systems.
  • Overseeing electrical distribution systems equivalent to those on Diego Garcia, ensuring uninterrupted power supply and optimal performance.
  • Implementing and managing a Quality Management System (QMS) that includes accident and incident investigation.
  • Conducting ongoing risk assessments and analysis of electrical utility operations to ensure compliance with safety, regulatory, and operational standards.
  • Coordinating and supervising a team of technical personnel to effectively manage electrical distribution and generator systems.
  • Creating and managing schedules for preventive maintenance and corrective actions on power generation and distribution systems.
  • Interfacing and communicating with stakeholders, including the Contracting Officer (KO), to ensure compliance with contract requirements.
  • Reviewing and verifying all documented experience and qualifications prior to the start of contract performance as per contract requirements.
  • Ensuring compliance with all relevant codes, standards, and procedures, such as OSHA safety regulations and applicable electrical codes.
  • Required to comply with all occupational safety and health standards, rules, and orders applicable to their actions and conduct. The role demands consistent, proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE), proactive reporting of workplace hazards, and total adherence to safety protocols to maintain a zero-injury environment.
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned that are consistent with the nature and level of the position.

Required Qualifications:

  • Minimum of five (5) years of documented experience with engine-driven generators rated a minimum of 1,000 kW three-phase/60 Hz stationary diesel engine driven generators and associated medium voltage electrical equipment/switchgear systems.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of documented experience with electrical distribution systems equivalent to the electrical system on Diego Garcia.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of documented Quality Management and Administration experience, including accident and incident investigation.
  • All documented experience must be submitted to the Contracting Officer (KO) for review and approval prior to the start of contract performance.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Must be able to speak, read, and comprehend English to the extent that they can perform the contract requirements and comply with installation emergency procedures.
  • Must be in possession of a valid passport and be able to travel internationally.
  • Passport should be valid for a minimum of one (1) year or more at the time of hiring.
  • Ability to obtain country-specific visas per the U.S. Department of State Foreign Clearance Guide.
  • Ability to successfully pass contract medical requirements and maintain requirements for the duration of deployment.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain facility credentials/authorization.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems, or a related technical field.
  • Prior experience in managing electrical systems in an austere OCONUS (Outside the Continental United States) environment with a multi-national workforce is preferred.
  • Valid country driver’s license.
  • Demonstrated leadership, problem-solving, and organizational skills in managing large-scale utility systems.
  • Familiarity with NAVFAC standards and practices.

Working Environment

This position is located on Diego Garcia, British Indian Ocean Territory (BIOT), a remote overseas location supporting U.S. Government operations. Employees may work in office, industrial, warehouse, port, airfield, and outdoor environments and may be exposed to high temperatures, humidity, inclement weather, noise, dust, and uneven terrain. Work schedules may include evenings, weekends, holidays, and extended hours based on operational requirements.

Physical Requirements

Requirements may include prolonged sitting, standing, walking, climbing stairs, lifting up to 25 pounds regularly and 50 pounds occasionally, and working in both indoor and outdoor environments. Must be able to meet all medical, security, and deployment requirements associated with assignment to a remote overseas location.
