The Fire Protection Specialist will perform testing, maintenance, and repair of the fire protection systems including alarms, suppression, and components while coordinating with the fire department and facility personnel. Candidate must be knowledgable of various fire protection manufactureres and be able to understand and follow all UFC and NFPA requirements for compliance with state, federal, and local codes. They must be able to troubleshoot using a root cause mentality, understand the failure modes of the fire protection systems and equipment, and work in a customer environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct inspections and tests of fire protection systems
  • Installs, programs, maintains, and repairs fire protection systems.
  • Ensures systems are compliant with relevant codes and standards
  • May need to troubleshoot and resolve issues with fire protection systems.
  • Complete work orders in a timely manner.


Required Qualificiations:

  • NICET Level 1 certification and 2 years in Fire Alarms Systems, Inspection and Testing of Fire Alarm Systems, Inspection and Testing of Water-Based Systems, and/or Special Hazard Systems is preferred
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize multiple tasks
  • Technicians need a thorough understanding of NFPA standards, including NFPA 12 (Sprinkler Systems), NVPA 72 (Fire Alarm Systems), NFPA 70 (Nathional Electric Code), NFPA 101 (Life Safety Code), and NFPA 25 (Inspection, Testing, and Maintenance of Water-Based Fire Protection Systems).
  • Successful candidate will be subject to a government security investigation and must continually meet eligibility requirements for access to all areas of Naval Submarine Base Kings Bay.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • NICET Level 2 or Higher certification in Fire Alarm Systems, Inspection and Testing of Fire Alarm Systems, Inspection and Testing of Water-Based Systems, and/or Special Hazard Systems is preferred
  • Willingness to learn and grow in the Fire Protection Specialist role
  • Competent to operate a computer and applications
