Amentum has an exciting opportunity for a Casual Gardener to join their Maintenance team at the Alice Springs Office. The Gardener position reports to the Maintenance Supervisor with day-to-day activities overseen by the Senior Maintenance Officer – Landscaping. You will perform gardening duties at residential properties and unit complexes in the town of Alice Springs. The gardener will undertake other duties as required. Occasional overtime and callouts will be required.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Maintaining lawns and gardens at residential properties and unit complexes.

  • Maintenance and development of reticulation systems.

  • Planting, pruning and maintenance of shrubs and trees.

  • Perform routine maintenance on small machinery.

  • Undertake all work in a safe and professional manner.

  • Report any incidents to management as a priority.

  • Work as part of a team.

  • Use of computer systems to record and plan work tasks.

  • Other duties as directed by the Vesta management team

QUALIFICATIONS:

Minimum Essential

  • Ability to work in a team environment

  • Ability to work professionally with minimal supervision

  • Good interpersonal skills with a customer service focus

  • Good communication skills - verbal and written

  • Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines and successfully complete assigned tasks

  • Demonstrated ability to identify and analyze issues and develop solutions to problems

Desirable

  • Trade Qualification in Horticulture

  • Chainsaw Operators’ Certificate

  • Small Machinery Maintenance Certificate

  • Sound knowledge of installation and maintenance of reticulation systems

TICKETS AND LICENCES

Minimum Essential

  • Current Driver’s License

Desirable

  • Heavy Rigid (HR) Driver's License

EXPERIENCE – Minimum Essential

0 to 12 months’ experience in garden maintenance work.

WORK ENVIRONMENT, PHYSICAL DEMANDS, AND MENTAL DEMANDS

Gardening in Alice Springs can be hot and physical work. Typical tasks include but are not limited to pushing a hand mower, raking leaves, digging, pruning, cleaning gutters and reticulation repairs

SECURITY CLEARANCE REQUIREMENT

It is a condition of employment at JDFPG that employees obtain and retain the appropriate level of security clearance and medical clearance applicable to each role. The employee will require a NV-1/SECRET Department of Defense Security Clearance (Australian) or SSBI (U.S.) clearance.

STATEMENT OF WORK REQUIREMENTS

All personnel assigned to work at JDFPG shall be:

· At least 18 years of age.

· Able to fluently read, write and speak English

EHS REQUIREMENT

All Vesta personnel are responsible for understanding and complying with all site environmental, health and safety requirements. · Completing work task in a safe manner
