Amentum is seeking a Generator Technician for multiple OCONUS locations contingent upon award. The Generator Technician is responsible for maintaining and operating a variety of generators, ensuring that they function efficiently and reliably. This role includes troubleshooting engines, fuel systems, controls, and generators using technical prints, diagrams, and specifications. The technician will also provide guidance and oversight to others under their supervision, working closely with contracted maintenance services to ensure compliance with operational standards.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Perform troubleshooting and repair of generator engines, fuel systems, and controls.

  • Operate and maintain megawatt-rated high-amperage and high-voltage generators.

  • Provide guidance and supervision to team members, ensuring adherence to safety and operational protocols.

  • Monitor and collaborate with contracted maintenance services to ensure service quality.

  • Work on-call, rotational shifts, and during nights, weekends, and holidays as required to ensure generator availability and reliability.

  • Ensure all work complies with relevant standards and regulations.

Minimum Position Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required

  • High school diploma or equivalent, with a preference for candidates who have completed a vocational or trade school program or equivalent apprenticeship.

  • At least eight (8) years of generator maintenance experience, including a minimum of three (3) years in a lead or supervisory role.

  • Proficiency in troubleshooting engines, fuel systems, controls, and generators using technical documents.

  • Experience with high-amperage and high-voltage generator operations.

  • Ability to work collaboratively with contracted maintenance services.

  • Strong leadership skills to provide effective supervision and guidance to team members.

  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including on-call assignments, nights, weekends, and holidays.

  • Requires a SECRET security clearance at the start of the contract and must obtain the appropriate clearance (up to TS) within eight (8) months of the contract award.

Work Environment, Physical Demands, and Mental Demands

  • Work is primarily performed in a variety of settings, including power plants and maintenance facilities.

  • The role requires physical stamina to lift, carry, and move equipment or parts weighing up to 50 pounds.

  • The technician must be able to work in confined spaces and at heights as necessary.

  • Mental demands include the ability to concentrate, analyze, and troubleshoot complex systems, often under time constraints.

  • The work environment may involve exposure to loud noises, machinery, and potentially hazardous materials; adherence to safety protocols is essential.

This position requires a proactive individual with strong technical skills, leadership capabilities, and the ability to adapt to varying work schedules. The Generator Technician plays a crucial role in ensuring the uninterrupted operation of essential power systems.
