About the Opportunity The Civil Engineering team is dedicated to hands-on, practical engineering solutions. Our focus is on actively delivering civil engineering capabilities for a range of complex and highly technical projects in the nuclear and defence sectors. We prioritise applying first principles to understand structural responses under extreme conditions like seismic events, blast loads, and environmental challenges. This role demands a “doer” mentality - someone who engages directly in the design and delivery processes rather than focusing on oversight alone. We are looking for an engineer who is ready to take charge of designs, dive deep into technical challenges, and bring innovative solutions to life.
Highway Lead and Designer plays a critical, hands-on role in delivering practical, high-quality engineering solutions for infrastructure and civil engineering projects. This role emphasises proactive design work, applying technical expertise and direct implementation skills to drive project success. Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and execute highway design projects, employing Civil 3D and other relevant tools for alignment and earthworks design.
- Take ownership of design outputs, from concept to delivery, focusing on practical, hands-on execution.
- Engage closely with project teams to address design issues and implement effective solutions.
- Ensure all highway design work meets technical standards and is aligned with project safety and compliance goals.
- Foster strong client and internal relationships, ensuring designs meet project needs.
Skills and Requirements - In-depth experience in highway design, particularly with Civil 3D.
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Civil Engineering or related field.
- Proven track record in hands-on project delivery and problem-solving.
- Excellent communication and collaborative skills.
We know that if we are inclusive, we’re more connected, and if we are diverse, we’re more creative. We accept people for who they are, regardless of age, disabilities, gender identity, gender expression, marital status, mental health, race, faith or belief, sexual orientation, socioeconomic background, and whether you’re pregnant or on family leave.
As a Disability Confident employer, we will interview all disabled applicants who meet the criteria for a vacancy.
