Purpose and Impact:

In support of a challenging, critical, and rewarding program that provides integrated voice, video, and data services throughout the Information Technology lifecycle, Amentum is seeking an IT Fielding Engineer to join our dynamic team of IT professionals dedicated to fostering a positive and collaborative work environment. You must be a critical thinker, have a strong work ethic, and be able to work independently or as a member of a team in a dynamic environment. To be successful, you must be able to rapidly adapt and learn how to operate the front and back end of new products and processes.

Work Schedule: 5 Days (Mon – Fri); 8 hrs/Day; 40 hrs/wkly

Essential Responsibilities:

The duties and responsibilities of the IT Fielding Engineer include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Perform as senior-level contributor with knowledge and experience in local and wide area networking, communications, and related software/hardware within a secure, multi-platform operating environment.
  • Provide support to a large and diverse customer base as a member of a complex team comprised of contractors and government personnel.
  • Assist with integration of network and hardware infrastructure, including the planning, design, installation, maintenance, and management of the enterprise LAN/WAN.
  • Perform installation, maintenance, and decommissioning of the following devices: KG-175 TACLANE encryption devices; Cisco routers; switches; VoIP phones and VTC devices; rack infrastructure; servers; UPS; and networked printers, scanners, digital senders, workstation computers, and all associated desktop peripherals.
  • Provide Windows 10/11 desktop administration and end-user support, including operating system deployment and imaging via MECM, client application installation, roaming profiles, troubleshooting, and peripheral support.
  • Install, label, and organize interior STP CAT5/6 copper, fiber, and AV cabling to include cable management.
  • Review mission scope-of-work requirements and technical design packages.
  • Prepare and execute hardware deployment and site installation plans. Coordinate with customer project managers, administrative and technical program support staff, and customers. Mobilize and direct the installation team.
  • Update and complete support tickets and post installation close-out operations. Close-out operations include submitting travel receipts and travel vouchers for reimbursement, submitting hand receipts and customer signed inventories to Logistics personnel, and updating site data with Site Design team members and Customer Project Managers.
  • Have familiarity with modern technological developments and applications to assist in evaluation of new products and make recommendations for purchase.
  • Perform site surveys to assess and document current and proposed site network configuration and architecture based on mission requirements, specifications, and customer needs. Create diagrams as needed for planning and documentation purposes.

Work Environment, Physical Demands, and Mental Demands:

  • The position requires a balanced schedule of standing and sitting (approximately 50/50) and the ability to remain on your feet for extended periods.
  • Must be able to lift and carry equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Must comply with all safety requirements such as wearing protective footwear as well as any other personal protective wear deemed necessary for a particular task.

Minimum Requirements (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities):

  • Must have active Top-Secret clearance with SCI or TS with the ability to acquire SCI
  • 5 years of relevant experience
  • Hands-on experience working within communications technology programs under the DoD or Intelligence Community environments
  • Familiarity with classified environments, compliance requirements, and secure communication standards
  • Proven experience installing and integrating hardware components into network and telecommunications infrastructures
  • Ability to configure and optimize hardware for optimal network performance and reliability
  • Must have in-depth knowledge of PC and LAN communication hardware and architecture
  • Experienced in working within complex multi-protocol network environments
  • Skilled in troubleshooting and resolving hardware, software, and network issues in VTC systems
  • Must have worked with a wide range of VTC hardware and software solutions across different vendors
  • Strong Windows 10 desktop administration skills
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds occasionally and/or up to 20 pounds frequently.
  • Ability to maneuver in small spaces (under desks, server rooms, communications closets) while running cords and cables
  • Must be able to work a 40-hour work week, normally Monday through Friday.
  • Ability to work overtime during critical peaks and be available to meet last-minute requests for overtime if needed.
  • Ability to travel up to 50% within the National Capitol Region (multi-day travel).
  • Must have a valid driver’s license.
  • Familiarity with MS Office applications such as Excel, Word, Outlook, SharePoint, Project, and Visio.  
  • Exceptional attention to detail; excellent verbal and written communication skills; strong critical thinking, organizational, time-management, and problem-solving skills.    
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team in a dynamic environment.

Clearance Required:

  • Must have active Top-Secret clearance with SCI or TS with the ability to acquire SCI  

Minimum Education:

  • High School Diploma

Minimum Years of Experience:

  • 5 years of relevant experience

Required Certifications:

  • Must possess one of the following 8140 IAT Level II or III baseline certifications:
  • Level II certs include – CCNA Security, GISCP, GSEC, Security+ CE, SSCP
  • Level III certs include – CASP CE, CCNP Security, CISA, CISSP (or Associate), GCED, GCIH

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in IT related field
  • 7 – 10 years of relevant experience
  • ITIL v4 Certification
  • ServiceNow experience
  • Experience with installation and configuration of enterprise network and systems infrastructure devices, cabling, and operational best practices
  • Understanding of Active Directory, MECM, DHCP, DNS, Cisco IOS, SolarWinds, and Remedy

Compensation Details:

$117,000 - $132,000
