We have an exciting opportunity for a Lead Configuration Manager, Gateway Xlabs to join the team with Bastion, a teammate company.

The Gateway Xlab Team is looking for an experienced and proven Lead Configuration Manager (CM) to lay the foundation for a team of CMs that will support future test and operations at multiple NASA/JSC labs. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, implementing and maintaining the configuration management system, processes, and products (audits) for several labs onsite at JSC. This person will be the expert for all NASA JSC Gateway T&V labs and will represent the group at Test Readiness Reviews (TRR) and working groups leading up to the TRR. In addition, the candidate will be responsible for lab configuration changes, documentation and management as project and program demands evolve throughout the entirety of all mission phases. The successful candidate will work with all stakeholders and system/hardware/software owners to ensure that all hardware coming into the lab for test is configured and aligned with what is expected based on the configuration of the lab. This person will also ensure that all NASA JSC Gateway T&V labs are configured to meet the various customers' needs.

Responsibilities:

  • Implement hardware and software version control processes, policies and procedures.
  • Develop and select configuration management tools (e.g. DOORS, Eclipse) to store, track, and manage configuration items
  • Work with customers (other projects and hardware/software owners) to understand requirements and desired test outcomes
  • Implement hardware and software version control processes, policies and procedures.
  • Maintaining and developing the environment for hardware and software product build, staging, testing and integration.
  • Develop configuration control process and change management process for lab equipment
  • Support changes in configuration for hardware and software both temporary and permanent related to nonconformances troubleshooting to ensure CM is fully engaged if needed
  • Utilize configuration management tools (e.g. DOORS, Eclipse, Jira, etc) to store, track and management configuration items.
  • Manage configuration freeze process including integrity seals on hardware racks and software folders that will be used to support loading of both ground and flight software to support individual tests
  • Manage and maintain configuration records for various tests for documentation or future anomalies that require investigations
  • Perform audits to confirm CM processes are being followed and the hardware matches the approved engineering drawings and make corrective action recommendations for disposition by Gateway T&V leadership
  • Represent lab at Control Boards, Test Readiness Reviews


Requisition Qualifications:

    • Typically requires a minimum of a bachelor’s degree in Engineering and may be expected to have a related master’s degree and normally possess 10-15 years of related experience
    • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering or related field
    • Outstanding written and oral communication skills
    • Demonstrated ability to work with interdisciplinary teams
    • Strong organizational skills and proven ability to manage multiple tasks at the same time
    • Experience with aerospace industry standard configuration management specifications


    Requisition Preferences:

    • Experience with NASA/JSC configuration management standards and practices
    • Configuration management certification (CMII, CM, SEMC, etc).
    • Previous management or supervisory experience with emphasis on team building

    Essential Functions

    Work Environment

    Generally, an office environment, but can involve inside or outside work depending on task.

    Physical Requirements

    Work may involve sitting or standing for extended periods (90% of time). May require lifting and carrying up to 25 lbs. (5% of time).

    Standard office equipment (PC, telephone, printer, etc.).

    Attendance

    Regular attendance in accordance with established work schedule is critical. Ability to work outside normal schedule and adjust schedule to meet peak periods and surge requirements.
