Purpose and Scope:

Install, repair, rebuild, and service mechanical or electrical locking devices on a USAF installation in accordance with contract requirements.

Essential Responsibilities:
Shall provide 24/7 locksmith services. Will install, maintain and repair all assigned doors, locks and windows in accordance with contract requirements.  Will work with Keystone or current software. Inspects, repairs and certifies GSA containers and vaults. Inspects and repairs high security locks such as: LKM7000, KABA Mas X-09/X-10. Disassembles locks such as padlocks, safe locks and door locks, and repairs or replaces worn tumblers, springs, and other parts. Inserts new or repaired tumblers into lock to change the combination. Cuts new or duplicate keys. Moves lock-pick in cylinders to open door locks without keys. Opens safe locks by drilling. Keeps records of locks and keys. Complete projects from initial layout to final assembly or installation to include basic structural framework. Repairs door screens; replaces or repairs window locks and operators.  Provide new or duplicate keys, open safe locks without keys, open safe locks by drilling, and keep records of locks and keys issued.  Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Position Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:  Must be a U.S. Citizen and be able to obtain and maintain a standard security clearance, if required.  Ability to adapt to frequent change and a hectic, fast-paced work environment. Strong interpersonal skills and ability to deal with others in a positive, customer-focused manner. Ability to comprehend written and oral instructions.  Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, using proper grammar, spelling, and punctuation.  Experience with working and communicating with the Government or military personnel.  Ability to generate reports as required by the Customer.  Must be detailed oriented with respect to working with management, co-workers and the Customer.  Assemble, format, and/or author routine correspondence, reports, forms, and memorandums from various files or rough draft format using MS Office applications.  Must be able to work with computers and computer software as required. 

Must be able to obtain and maintain facility credentials/authorization. Note: US Citizenship is required for facility credentials/authorization at this work location.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE: Three (3) or more years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience in the locksmith field.  Must be a registered Locksmith and have sufficient expertise in the field.

REQUIRED EDUCATION: Must possess GSA Certified Locksmith (DoD Lock Program/GSA Safe & Vault Training). High School diploma or equivalent, with additional training in the use of computers for data entry, word processing, reporting, spreadsheets, etc. Must maintain a valid state driver license and be qualified to operate government general-purpose vehicle.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Similar military experience.  Facilities, project management, inventory management and operations experience.  Keystone software experience.  Associate degree or higher a plus.


Work Environment, Physical Demands, and Mental Demands:
Work tasks may require the person to lift, bend or stoop. The physical demands described here are representative of those that an employee may perform on an occasional to regular basis while performing functions of this job. Living and working conditions at the assignment location could be remote and uncomfortable.  Must have the ability to work well with others, to include the Government.
