The (LUH-72) Lakota Aircraft Mechanic AM-2 (FAA A&P) maintains repairs and modifies aircraft structures and structural components of moderate difficulty.

  • Valid FAA A&P Certificate Required, with a minimum of Three (3) years of maintainer experience, with Two (2) years of LUH-72 hands-on mechanic experience.

  • US Citizenship is Required to obtain the US Govt Security Clearance, NACI (T1) Public Trust.

  • Must be willing and able to work any shift as assigned by Union.

  • Maintains and repairs aircraft components including but not limited to flight controls, engines, hydraulics, pneumatics, fuel systems, and mechanical components.

  • Applies technical knowledge of airframe and power plant systems in determining equipment malfunctions and applies required expertise in restoring equipment condition and or operation.

  • Requires working knowledge of technical publications.

  • Thorough knowledge of aircraft mechanical component troubleshooting, diagnosing problems, repair procedures and replacement of parts; requires broad knowledge of aircraft sheet metal/structural modifications and repair, and basic knowledge of electrical theory.

  • Working knowledge of making entries in aircraft logbooks & records, military technical publications, and the Army's Unit Level Logistics Aviation Information System, ULLSAE. Must have working knowledge of technical publications and the Government STAMIS to make entries in aircraft logs and records.

  • Removes and installs aircraft subsystem assemblies and components such as engines, rotors, transmissions, mechanical flight controls and their components.

  • Services and lubricates aircraft and subsystems, safely prepares aircraft for inspections and maintenance checks and services.

  • Performs scheduled inspections and assists in performing special inspections.

  • Performs limited maintenance operational checks and diagnoses and troubleshoots aircraft systems using special tools and test equipment as required.

  • Uses and performs operator maintenance on tools, special tools, and aircraft ground support equipment.

  • Uses a knowledge of electrical theory and of aircraft unique tools such as test equipment, torque wrenches, dial indicators, micrometers, sheet metal brakes and sheers.

  • May be designated as a Foreign Object Elimination/Foreign Object Debris (FOE/FOD) Program Administrator.

  • Perform other qualified duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent is Required.

  • A valid (FAA) A&P Certificate is Required.

  • Three (3) years of aviation maintenance experience, three (3) years rotary wing aircraft mechanic experience, and Two (2) years on the assigned LUH-72 (MDS) Mission Design Series aircraft being serviced. 

  • All relevant maintenance experience must be within the Five (5) most recent years.

  • Shall have a working knowledge of making entries in aircraft logbooks & records, military technical publications, and the Army's Unit Level Logistics Aviation Information System, ULLSAE. 

  • Mechanics Must provide own tools and toolbox. Toolbox must be shadowed with each tool etched with mechanic's PID. (Recruiter can provide Tool information).

  • A valid Driver's License is required.

  • Must be willing and able to work any shift, as assigned by the Union CBA. Must be available and flexible to work variable shifts as needed, including weekends and holidays.

  • Ability to travel based on operational requirements to meet mission deadlines.

Security Clearance Requirements:

  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a NAC-I (T1) Public Trust Security Clearance. Must be able to obtain and maintain facility credentials/authorization. US Citizenship is Required for facility credentials/authorization to work at this facility.

Physical and Additional Qualifications:

  • Must be able to Read, Write and Communicate effectively in English

  • Must be able to type using a standard keyboard to communicate through e-mail and software applications.

  • Must be able to prioritize workload to maintain schedules on assigned projects.

  • Must be able to routinely lift and/or move objects weighing up to 50 pounds.

  • Must be able to walk and stand on level and/or inclined surfaces for extended periods throughout the day.

  • Must be able to climb stairs, ramps, ladders, and work stands.

  • Must be able to crouch, crawl, grasp or handle objects, use finger dexterity, bend elbow/knee and reach above/below shoulders.

  • Will be required to handle dirty parts and lubricants.

  • Will be required to wear proper Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).

  • Must be able to pass a Respirator Physical and Fit Test qualification.

  • Must be able to lift/push/pull minimum of 50 pounds.

  • Must be able to work in a shop where the environment is drafty, noisy, and dirty.

  • May be required to work in areas where high noise hazards prevail. May be exposed to fumes or airborne particles.

  • May be exposed to electrical shock hazards.

  • Frequently required to climb or balance and work in small spaces, ladder work and working at heights at or above 40feet is required.

California: Compensation & Benefits:

HIRING HOURLY RANGE: $50.07 - $53.63 (Hourly rate set by CBA)

This position includes a competitive benefits package.

Bi-weekly accrual of 3.39 hours (0 to less than 48 months)

Bi-weekly accrual of 4.93 hours (48 months but less than 108 months)

Bi-weekly accrual of 6.47 hours (108 months or more)

11 paid Holidays (outlined in CBA)

Sick Leave – Newly hired or transferred employees into the bargaining until shall receive up front/front-loaded prorate sick leave hours based on the remaining weeks in the calendar year including the week of hire at the rate of 1.33 hour per week up to 56 hours
