Amentum is seeking a highly motivated, team-oriented Nuclear Safety Engineer Supervisor to support projects remotely out of Aiken, SC or Richland, WA office. The Nuclear Safety Engineer Supervisor will be responsible for managing the Nuclear Safety Engineering team to meet customer and project requirements regarding scope, scheduling and budgets. Provides a liaison between discipline engineers and Project Engineering Managers and between Project Managers, Chief Discipline Engineers and Principal Engineers with respect to project scope, budget, scheduling and overall engineering and design requirements and employee administration.
Essential Responsibilities:
~Coordinate the discipline's engineering with that of other disciplines.
~Maintain records, files and other documents pertaining to the discipline.
~Assume responsibility for ensuring that engineering documents comply with applicable state laws/regulations, including affixing registered engineer seal when required.
~Assign preparers and checkers for discipline specifications and coordinates review of external specifications.
~Establish schedules and budgets to meet project requirements and obtains approval.
~Maintain technical coordination with the Principal Engineer to ensure adherence to industry codes, regulatory requirements and sound engineering practices.
~Direct the preparation and submits periodic reports and forecasts on the status of the discipline.
~Comply with state requirements for continuing education, maintains and obtains licenses as requested.
~Continually upgrade technical knowledge and capabilities and pursues additional coursework and training.
~Advises the Project Engineering Manager regarding status of assignment(s) with respect to schedule, budgets, delays and adverse problems
~Work closely with Chief Discipline Engineers, Principal Engineers and Project Engineering Managers on employees evaluations and promotions and the overall technical improvement of the group.
~Lead the development of manpower, man-hour, and labor cost requirements for a project and can monitor the effect of these on the budget.
~Able to lead all aspects of estimating for a discipline.
~Responsible for performance management and mentoring.
~Provide assistance to projects to address technical issues related to process improvement.
~Assist in training and mentoring/coaching other team members.
~Assist in the development of training programs within area of technical expertise and conducts training sessions as appropriate.
~Create positive working relationships with peer leaders.
~Create productive relationships with organizations both within and external to Engineering.
BS/BA in engineering or equivalent technical discipline and 6+ years of relevant work experience
MS/MA in engineering or equivalent technical discipline and 4+ years of relevant work experience
2+ years in supervisory role
Intermediate level of knowledge within a specific discipline and an understanding of other disciplines.
Other Requirements:
Good communication and analytical skills; knowledgeable about Microsoft Office applications.
Individuals must be capable of obtaining a DOE site security badge. The position may require the ability to pass and maintain a Security Clearance. Due to the nature of the work, the candidate must be a US Citizen; dual Citizenship is not permitted.
Preferred Experience:
Demonstrating familiarity with DOE Nuclear Safety Analysis requirements, including DOE-STD-3009.
Supporting completion of nuclear facility documented safety analyses (DSAs) and technical safety requirements (TSRs) updates, revisions, or creation.
Working with support organizations to ensure DSA and TSR projects are completed and submitted to the Department of Energy (DOE) for approval on schedule.
Leading all aspects of reviews and ensuring the preparation of DSAs and TSRs accurately reflect the facility configuration and establish the necessary controls.
Reviewing procedures, operational events, and facility modifications to support DSA and TSR implementation.
Establishing objectives, setting priorities, and advising management of nuclear safety issues.
Developing and maintaining effective collaboration with facility system engineers, facility operations, supporting organization, subcontractor personnel, and DOE oversight personnel.
Providing support and input, including requirements management, to identify and implement improvements to current procedures and processes, performing programmatic assessments, and conducting training associated with nuclear safety requirements.
Frequently working with other organizations, tracking, and reporting status, and ensuring projects meet schedule commitments.
Conducting facility hazard identification, assessment, and accident analyses and classification. Ensuring that all hazards are identified and adequately addressed, and that identification, assessment and analyses are adequately documented.
Position may require the ability to pass and maintain a Security Clearance.
Position may require travel.
