Amentum is seeking a Plumber, Maintenance for Creech Air Force Base.

Purpose and Scope: 

Provide plumbing and Liquid Fuels Maintenance for facilities and infrastructure.  Assembles, installs, troubleshoots, and repairs pipes, fittings and fixtures of, water, and drainage systems, according to specifications and plumbing codes. Installs and repairs plumbing fixtures, such as sinks, commodes, bathtubs, water heaters, hot water tanks, garbage disposal units and dishwashers.  Repairs and maintains all plumbing by replacing components in leaky faucets, mixing valves, check valves and both manual and automatic flushometers. Able to mend interior/exterior pipes, such as PVC, PEX, copper, asbestos cement, cast iron, galvanized and black iron by methods such as soldering, appropriate clamps, threaded, push to connect and mechanical joint fittings. Capable of opening clogged drains using various methods such as plungers, manual and power snake machines.  Maintains all plumbing and pipe fitting systems and associated components shall be operational according to the Uniform Plumbing Code (UPC).  Perform a variety of maintenance of repair of equipment and buildings. Requires government certifications skills and knowledge for plumbing and liquid fuels maintenance.

Compensation:

HIRING HOURLY Rate of Pay: $35.53. Hourly rate set by CBA.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Works with minimal supervision and guidance.
  • Can read and decipher plumbing maps/blueprints to locate various plumbing devices such as valves, sewer manholes, fire hydrants, clean outs, etc.
  • Respond to service calls within the allowable time frame.
  • Participation in Quality Control and Safety Program.
  • Must adhere to the Lockout/Tag Out and Fall Protection Program.
  • Perform daily checks on company provided vehicle.

Work involves a variety of duties:

  • Water Distribution systems: must be able to repair and maintain in accordance with local environmental management quality standards to include water treatment equipment, backflow prevention devices, and cathodic protection IAW applicable Government and local regulations.
  • Waste Water Systems: must be able to repair and maintain sewage lines, lift stations and septic tank systems IAW applicable local and Government regulations.
  • Maintain and repair underground and aboveground Petroleum, Oils, and Lubricants (POL) system tanks in accordance with all local and Governmental regulations.
  • Repair and maintain, test, and inspect wet, dry pipe and deluge fire suppression systems in accordance with all environmental policies and regulations.
  • Assembles, installs, and repairs pipes, fittings, and fixtures of water and drainage systems according to specifications and plumbing codes.
  • Inspect structure to ascertain obstructions to be avoided to prevent weakening of structure resulting from installation of pipe.
  • Locate and marks position of pipe and pipe connections and passage holes for pipes in walls and floors, using ruler, spirit level and plumb bob.
  • Cuts and threads pipe, using pipe cutters, cutting torch, and pipe threading machine.
  • Bends pipe to required angle by use of pipe-bending machine or by placing pipe over block and bending by hand.
  • Assembles and installs valves, pipe fittings, and pipes composed of metals, such as iron, steel brass and copper, and nonmetals, such as glass, vitrified clay, and plastic, using hand tools, power tools and soldering equipment.
  • Installs and repairs plumbing fixtures, such as sinks, commodes, bathtubs, water heaters, hot water tanks, garbage disposal units, and dishwashers.
  • Repairs and maintains plumbing by replacing components in leaky faucets, mixing valves, check valves, flushometers as well as other plumbing related items.
  • Performs other work-related duties as assigned by supervisor.

Minimum Position Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:

High school diploma or equivalent.   Must have at least 2 years’ experience as a plumber, acquired through training and/or experience under a formal apprenticeship or equivalent. Must be willing achieve certifications according to government requirements. Must have a valid Nevada driver’s license; Commercial driver’s license would be a plus.  Must be able to listen with comprehension to assist customers with problems.  Ability to use good judgment and common sense when performing job functions, ability to follow written and verbal instructions, ability to be punctual, patience to work under sometimes stressful conditions, lifting of weight up to seventy (70) pounds is required.  Must be able to obtain and maintain a Government Security Clearance, Secret.

Work Environment, Physical Demands, and Mental Demands:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts. The employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals; outside weather conditions; extreme cold; extreme heat; risk and risk of electrical shock. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. The employee is frequently required to walk: use hands to finger, handle, or feel: reach with hands and arms: talk or hear: and taste or smell. Requires climbing on ladders, scaffolding, and platforms: standing, bending, and working in cramped areas: lifting and carrying tools and equipment which occasionally may weigh over 40 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and the ability to adjust focus.
