Purpose and Scope:
The purpose of this position is to provide work direction to assigned Power Production Technicians. Work with other technicians or crews in the performance of assigned work duties. Responsible for the operation, maintenance, and inspection of power production equipment.
Essential Responsibilities:
Examines machines and mechanical equipment to diagnose source of trouble.
Dismantles or partly dismantles machines and performing repairs that mainly involve the use of hand tools in scraping and fitting parts.
Replaces broken or defective parts with items obtained from stock; orders the production of a replacement part by a machine shop or sends the machine to a machine shop for major repairs; prepares written specifications for major repairs or for the production of parts ordered from machine shops.
Reassemble machines and make all necessary adjustments for operation.
Oversees and ensures all assigned and required tasks are performed during shift.
Perform all other position related duties as assigned or requested.
Minimum Requirements:
High school diploma or equivalent training/experience and a valid driver’s license.
A minimum of seven (7) years of full-time verifiable experience required.
Requires rounded training and experience usually acquired through a formal apprenticeship or equivalent training and experience.
Shall be qualified as Power Production journeyman or master technicians with a minimum of two (2) years of experience in the maintenance and operation of commercial grade generators ranging in size from 5 to 2500 kilowatts is not required but strongly desired.
Excluded from this classification are workers whose primary duties involve setting up or adjusting machines.
Must have the ability to use hand and power tools and related types of equipment peculiar to the trade.
Must have the ability to read and follow schematics, blueprints and other specifications.
Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret US Government Clearance. Note: US Citizenship is required to obtain a Secret Clearance.
Work Environment, Physical Demands, and Mental Demands:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts. The employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals; outside weather conditions; extreme cold; extreme heat; risk and risk of electrical shock. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. The employee is frequently required to walk use hands to finger, handle, or feel reach with hands and arms: talk or hear and taste or smell. Requires climbing on ladders, scaffolding, and platforms: standing, bending, and working in cramped areas: lifting and carrying tools and equipment which occasionally may weigh over 40 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and the ability to adjust focus. Physically fit to stand and bend for long periods of time and lift up to 50 pounds. Mandatory use of appropriate Personnel Protective Equipment (PPE). Living and working conditions at the assignment location could be remote and uncomfortable. Long hours, exposure to weather and hazardous conditions. Personnel should be aware of moving on short notice and under adverse conditions.
