Role Title: Senior Data Manager
Role Description: Are you ready to take on a pivotal role in one of Defence’s most complex and strategic transformation programs? We are seeking a Senior Data Manager to lead the way in shaping data governance, integrity and analytics for a program that is redefining maritime sustainment and operational excellence.
As a Senior Data Manager, you will be at the forefront of a high-impact transformation initiative, driving the development and implementation of robust data management frameworks. This role is critical to ensuring accurate, secure, and accessible data that underpins decision-making across engineering, logistics, and sustainment operations. You will work closely with senior stakeholders, technical experts, and program leaders to:
1. Establish and maintain data governance standards and compliance.
2. Oversee data architecture, quality assurance, and lifecycle management.
3. Enable advanced analytics and reporting to support strategic objectives.
4. Champion best practices in data integrity and configuration control.
Key Responsibilities:
- Analyse, report, and advise on data requirements.
- Remediate and prepare data across tranches to ensure conformance to business requirements.
- Build team capacity in data management, including forecasting data risk and residual data remediation.
- Develop a plan to improve data quality over time, including governance policies, quality metrics, and monitoring procedures.
- Liaise with business units to undertake required data remediation, providing targeted guidance.
- Align work package scope with organisational requirements.
- Manage data preparation reports and data quality improvement plans to ensure readiness for migration and conversion.
- Provide expert advice on targeted data applications and communicate effectively with stakeholders.
Essential Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree, or higher in Information Technology, Data Science, Computer Science, Business Information Systems, Engineering or related discipline
- Proven experience with major ERP platforms (e.g. SAP, Oracle)
- Deep knowledge of targeted data applications and ability to provide expert advice.
- SQL certified and experienced
- DAMA Certified Data Management Professional (CDMP)
- Ability to develop and implement data quality improvement plans
- Demonstrated success in producing accurate data preparation reports.
