The Role
We are currently looking for Senior Mechanical Engineer to join the Lightly Shielded Store Project (LSS1) to be based out of Birchwood.LSS1 is a 7200m2 footprint major project new build on the Sellafield site. It will be a new class of Intermediate Level Waste store for Sellafield with a design life of 100 years.
As a Senior Mechanical Engineer, with a proven track record in Mechanical Engineering, your responsibilities could include:
Planning and co-ordinating engineering and design activities for yourself and others
Developing and implementing engineering solutions for complex engineering projects, from concept design proposals through to design for manufacture, the full project life cycle
Identifying design, statutory and regulatory requirements, and contributing to risk assessments
Producing technical reports, technical specifications and scoping calculations
Reviewing technical deliverables, including reports and drawings
Presenting engineering solutions to stakeholders and as part of design reviews
As a Senior Mechanical Engineer you will already have:
Degree qualified in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent (e.g. HNC/HND with significant experience)
Attained/ or working towards chartered or incorporated status with a recognised professional body (e.g. IMechE)
Experience of highly regulated environments would be advantageous
Familiarity with UKCA/CE Marking, CDM, PUWER, LOLER, PED, Machinery’s Directive
