DOE Savannah River Site (SRS) processes and stores nuclear materials in support of national defense and U.S. nuclear nonproliferation efforts. The site also develops and deploys technologies to improve the environment and treat solid and liquid nuclear and hazardous wastes left from the Cold War. While current missions remain the highest priority, SRS leadership places great importance on developing broader missions for SRS that use its unique capabilities to address critical national missions. The Operation and Maintenance operator is Savannah River Nuclear Solutions (SRNS), as a Subcontractor to SRNS, Amentum provides telecommunications system operation and maintenance services as well as site operator services at SRS. This position supports an Amentum operation and maintenance program managing the voice and data services at the Savannah River site

Responsibilities:

As Server Security Specialist, responsibilities will include ensuring Security and legal requirements are effectively covered within system Operation System security policies, standards, and baselines. Hardening of systems will be to Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA) Security Technical Implementation Guide standards. Candidate will be responsible for ensuring these standards are followed by other team members, third parties and service providers. Candidate will also be responsible for advising on security improvements and security controls on Servers, Virtual Machines and their Operation Systems based upon and related to new technology developments, audit results, incidents, risk assessments and other lessons learned.

Additionally, Candidate Will:

  • Initiate, prepare, execute, and report upon security assessment (e.g. verifications, checks, tests, audits) within the various servers.
  • Monitor and report upon compliance and protection level of servers including risks.
  • Initiate, monitor and report upon appropriate corrective actions to mitigate the detected non-compliance situation
  • Support other team members within the Technology Security team.
  • Perform structured and controlled security assessments to determine the effectiveness of implemented protection mechanisms and security controls.
  • Documentation and presentation of results, conclusions, and proposals.
  • Have knowledge of scripting supporting various Operation Systems (Windows / Linux / VMware).


Requirements:

  • 5 years’ experience with management and security of servers and Operation Systems (e.g. Windows / UNIX / Linux / VMware).
  • Experience with supporting and conducting (automated) security assessments related to Servers and their Operation System/ features.
  • Experience with security and the Life Cycle Management stages of servers and their associated operating systems.
  • Experience with automated compliance verification of Servers.
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen
  • Must have a current driver’s license
  • Must pass an alcohol and substance abuse test
  • Must be able to pass to obtain DOE Clearance
  • Must be able to work flexible hours

  • Must be able to lift, up to 50 lbs.

Minimum Years of Experience: 5

Required Certifications:

  • Microsoft Server Certifications
  • LINUX certifications
  • VMWare Certifications
  • Relevant Cisco Certifications (Server/ VoIP)
  • All certifications should be current within one year.


Preferred:

  • DOE Clearance.
  • Bachelor’s degree or 3 to 5 years of work experience

The base salary range for this position is $95,000-$105,000. This range reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
