Amentum is seeking a Submarine Combat Systems Engineering Technician (AN/BYG-1) to support efforts in Groton, CT. You will provide technical evaluation and perform the required corrective actions for AN/BYG-1 systems in accordance with DoD, Navy Maintenance Procedures, and Cyber System instructions; assist in the disassembly, reassembly, installation and testing of the AN/BYG-1 systems of submarines; and provide support in a variety of engineering tasks in the installation, maintenance, repair, troubleshooting, calibration, testing, operation of AN/BYG-1 systems in accordance with engineering specifications.

You will:

  • Assist with test and evaluation; perform validations/verifications of AN/BYG-1systems

  • Assist in accomplishing Engineering Change Instructions (ECI)

  • Develop technical/engineering data for Planned Maintenance Systems, technical manuals, troubleshooting procedures, drawing updates, operation procedures, and maintainability improvements

  • Support systems engineering activities with subject matter expertise

  • Interface directly with the on-site customer for equipment/systems installation, testing, survey, fabrication, and other engineering tasks as needed

  • Comply with engineering documentation standards, engineering plans, and system specifications and test procedures; review change proposals for equipment impacts

Minimum Requirements

  • Must have an Active Secret US Government Clearance. Note: US Citizenship is required to maintain an Active Secret Clearance.

  • Five (5) years practical experience with High School Diploma/GED OR three (3) years experience with associate’s Degree in Engineering Technology, math, or science; or Formal electronics training from: Technical School, or Class A or B military school in electronics or communications; or four-year electronics apprentice program.

  • Hands-on experience configuring, troubleshooting, repairing networking equipment and Windows servers and workstations

  • Ability to travel up to 10% of the time

Preferred Qualifications

  • US Military systems/network experience

  • AN/BYG-1 Combat Systems Experience

  • Former or transitioning US Navy Submarine Fire Control Technician

Service Contract Act (SCA) Compensation & Benefits:

This is an hourly, overtime-eligible position that falls under the Service Contract Act (SCA). In accordance with the Health and Welfare provisions of the SCA, and in addition to your base hourly rate, you may be eligible to receive an additional health and welfare payment for each hour you work to ensure compliance with the minimums set forth by the act. The amount you are entitled to receive will vary depending upon the fringe benefits you select now and in the future.
