Submarine Technical Support Center (STSC) in Groton, CT is looking for a highly motivated and experienced technician to become part of the STSC team. You will be working with a team of highly dedicated and experienced personnel in maintaining the U.S. Navy’s Submarine Force Warfighting Capability. You will provide technical services (troubleshooting, testing, operation, repair/overhaul, maintenance oversight, installation, training, grooming) in connection with direct fleet support for the following major 688 and 774 Class submarine systems and equipment:

 

Demand Assigned Multiple Access (DAMA/MINI DAMA).

Digital Modular Radio (DMR).

HF/UHF Secure and Non-Secure Voice.

Secret/Top Secret Services Communication Enclaves.

Antenna Systems (HF/LF/VLF/Buoyant Cable Antenna/RFDACS),

SLVR, EHF, OE-538, OE-315, OE-562.

Satellite Communications Terminal/Sets (NMT).

Integrated Shipboard Networks.

Tactical Computer Groups.

Tactical Support, Command and Control, Receivers.  

Time and Frequency Distribution System (TFDS).

Common Submarine Radio Room (CSRR) components and associated subassemblies.

VHF/UHF power amplifiers, voice loggers.

Carry-on Equipment that interfaces with EW Systems (ENTR, ICADF, etc).

Photonics and Periscope Systems.

 

Minimum Requirements: 

  • Six (6) years of full-time engineering experience onboard submarines in the operation, maintenance, installation, test, or repair of combat systems and/or weapons handling equipment. Experience in evaluating the material condition of ship systems and implementing corrective action, and Eight (8) years of full-time technical experience in the mechanical/electrical/electronic systems/equipment.

  • Must have an active US Government Top Secret clearance and the ability to maintain that security clearance. (Note: US citizenship is required to maintain a Top Secret clearance).

  • Excellent communications and analytical skills; working knowledge of computer systems and integrated software application programs.

  • Experience onboard LOS ANGELES Class and VIRGINIA Class submarines.

  • Experience in preventive and corrective maintenance of Common Submarine Radio Room (CSRR) components and associated subassemblies. 

  • In-depth knowledge of fleet maintenance practices and procedures.

  • Subject Matter Expert in Common Submarine Radio Room (CSRR) policy and procedures.

​Preferred Experience:

 

Leading Chief Petty Officer Tour onboard VA class platform.

Graduate of advanced Navy technical training pipeline.

Service Contract Act (SCA) Compensation & Benefits:

This is an hourly, overtime-eligible position that falls under the Service Contract Act (SCA). In accordance with the Health and Welfare provisions of the SCA, and in addition to your base hourly rate, you may be eligible to receive an additional health and welfare payment for each hour you work to ensure compliance with the minimums set forth by the act. The amount you are entitled to receive will vary depending upon the fringe benefits you select now and in the future.

       

Compensation Details:

Hourly Range US:$45.00 - $50.00
