Technology Transfer Engineer to join the team!
We are actively searching for qualified candidates for this potential opening; however, we do not have assurance at this time when the position will be finalized and opened. The
Technology Transfer Engineer will:
- The Business Development & Technology Integration (BDTI) Office exists to enable human space exploration through technology development, technology transfer and partnership formulation “for the benefit of all humankind."
- As NASA embarks on its next era of exploration, the BDTI Office is focused on advancing technologies and partnerships to develop new capabilities to support the NASA and Johnson Space Center missions, and we are looking for a team member to help us make this happen.
- The Engineer will work with our Technology Transfer team to identify technology transfer and partnership opportunities.
- As part of the technology transfer team, you will collaborate to determine what NASA technologies may benefit current or future terrestrial or commercial space markets.
- Responsibilities will include but are not limited to: Perform screening and commercial assessments of NASA invention disclosures to determine commercial potential. Support agency Technology Transfer exhibits and marketing research / analyze patent portfolio, work with inventors to understand technology and identify commercial partners.
- Learn about NASA patented technologies and be able to communicate with internal/external stakeholders about their potential uses in commercial products.
- Identify new technologies and provide assessments with the goal of identifying market potential. Multimedia marketing campaigns for JSC patented technologies will be developed.
- Ability to work on a team that generates New Technology Reports (NTRs) and assists inventors in the process of developing NTRs.
- Develop and execute a plan for in-reach to the Johnson Space Center workforce, to include inventors.
- Communicate with innovators after the creation of an NTR and if necessary, work with legal through patent process.
- As member of the BDTI Office you will collaborate with others across all three branches in the division, including technology development, technology transfer, and partnerships.
- Other regular duties may include communications content development in support of BDTI objectives.
- Perform other tasks assigned.
Requisition Qualifications:This position has been posted at multiple levels. Depending on the candidate's experience, requirements, and business needs, we reserve the right to consider candidates at any level for which this position has been advertised.
- Typically requires a bachelor's degree in Engineering and a minimum of 1 year of experience in the field or in a related area.
- Ability to communicate with business specialists and engineers.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Exemplary organizational skills and careful attention to detail.
- Ability to multi-task.
- Working knowledge of and experience with MS Office.
Requisition Preferences: - BS or MS degree from an accredited college or university in Engineering or a related discipline with 5-10 years of experience.
- Coursework or practical experience in Business or a related discipline.
- Experience working with new and patented technologies.
- Experience or coursework working in a Technology Transfer Office.
- Experience or coursework in data management.
- Previous NASA experience is a plus.

Essential FunctionsWork EnvironmentGenerally, an office environment, but can involve inside or outside work depending on task.
Physical RequirementsWork may involve sitting or standing for extended periods (90% of time). May require lifting and carrying up to 25 lbs. (5% of time).
Equipment and MachinesStandard office equipment (PC, telephone, printer, etc.).
AttendanceRegular attendance in accordance with established work schedule is critical. Ability to work outside normal schedule and adjust schedule to meet peak periods and surge requirements.
