The Amentum JETS II contract seeks to fill a
temporary User Experience (UX) Designer position in the NASA Astromaterials Research and Exploration Science (ARES) Division, as part of the Amentum Science and Exploration Department (SED). The position will work with planetary scientists, software developers, data scientists, senior designer, and other aerospace professionals in Houston, TX at NASA Johnson Space Center. This position is offered hybrid in Houston, TX with in-person onsite required as scheduled.
**Please note this position is temporary position until Sept. 30, 2026
- Work in a small development team environment alongside NASA scientists, engineers, flight controllers, and other professionals to design web prototypes interfaces for science data sets from NASA's International Space Station and Artemis missions
- Design feature enhancements to core products in the EVA Mission System Software portfolio
- Develop science data visualization designs, graphic designs, and communications products for exploration science projects and mission data
- Assist with science mission operations, communications, and team coordination for Artemis mission simulations and real time operations
- Perform other duties as required
Requisition Qualifications:This position has been posted at multiple levels. Depending on the candidate's experience, requirements, and business needs, we reserve the right to consider candidates at any level for which this position has been advertised.
- Typically requires a bachelor’s degree in a related area and normally possess 3 years of work experience.
- Bachelor's in Communications, Multimedia, Infomatics, or Industrial Design
- 0-5 years of work experience
- Experience with industry standard design tools
- Perform other duties as required

Essential Functions Work Environment Generally, an office environment, but can involve inside or outside work depending on task.
Physical Requirements Work may involve sitting or standing for extended periods (90% of time). May require lifting and carrying up to 25 lbs. (5% of time).
Equipment and Machines Standard office equipment (PC, telephone, printer, etc.).
Attendance Regular attendance in accordance with established work schedule is critical. Ability to work outside normal schedule and adjust schedule to meet peak periods and surge requirements.
