Warehouse Specialist-DFAC

Purpose and Scope:

Support warehouse requirements as needed in and outside normal duty hours to support the DFAC. This position is in support of the Air Force Contract Augmentation Program (AFCAP) and is located at Ascension Island Auxiliary Airfield (AAAF).

Essential Responsibilities:           

  • Prepare inventory and requisitions stock as needed.
  • Perform a variety of warehousing duties which require an understanding of the establishment's storage plan.
  • Verify food and merchandise against receiving documents, noting and reporting discrepancies and obvious damages.
  • Route materials to prescribed storage locations.
  • Store, stack, or palletize materials in accordance with prescribed storage methods.
  • Rearrange and take inventory of stored materials.
  • Examine stored materials and report deterioration and damage.
  • Remove material from storage and prepare it for shipment.
  • Ensure First in First Out process is used.
  • May operate hand or power trucks in performing warehousing duties.
  • Other duties as required.

Minimum Position Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:

  • One (1) year job related experience.
  • Must have forklift license and certification.
  • Must always have current ServSafe certification.
  • High school diploma or equivalent training/experience.
  • Ability to read and write English is required.
  • Solid communications skills, strong interpersonal skills.
  • Strong ability to work as a member of a diverse, dynamic team.
  • Outstanding problem-solving skills and sound judgment. 
  • Possess a valid issued driver’s license, passport from their country and could obtain a work visa. 
  • Ability to successfully pass contract medical requirements and maintain requirements for duration of deployment.
  • Candidate should be other country national (OCN) or local national (LN).
  • Prefer candidate who has experience working on a US Government contract.

Work Environment, Physical Demands, and Mental Demands:

  • Able to stand for long periods of time such as eight (8) to ten (10) hours, bend, kneel, and reach to store/retrieve supplies.
  • Able to lift, carry, and push supplies and boxes up to 50 pounds.
  • Must have the ability to climb ladders and stairs.
  • Living and working conditions at the assignment location could be remote and uncomfortable. 
  • May be required to handle hazardous materials.
  • Will be required to wear Personal Protective Equipment.
  • Long hours, exposure to weather and hazardous conditions.
  • Personnel should be aware of moving on short notice and under adverse conditions. 
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally.
