Amentum, a global leader in mission solutions, engineering, technology, and national security solutions, is seeking a SkillBridge intern to support a government contract based in California, Maryland  This position is intended for transitioning military service members participating in the Department of Defense (DOD) SkillBridge Program who will be transitioning from active military duty within the next 6 months. Amentum is an Industry Partner of the Department of Defense (DOD) SkillBridge Program.  

SUMMARY 

Amentum is looking for a Warehouse Specialist Jr (Intern) position supports the Regional Maritime Awareness Capability (RMAC) program in California, MD. 

  • In this Warehouse Specialist Jr. (Admin Associate Jr.) position, incumbent shall be able to perform the full spectrum of Warehousing functional duties and responsibilities to include, but not limited to, assisting in receiving, inspecting, storing, preparing, shipping, and disposal of supplies related to Ground Supply operations.  Responsibilities also include use of MS Office Suite including Excel.  The incumbent shall be able to obtain an operators’ license for non-tactical and tactical Government-owned equipment. 
  • Minimum Education/Experience Requirements: High School or GED equivalent and Four (0-4) years of relevant, progressive experience or equivalent combination of education and experience. 
     

Essential Function 

  • Physical Requirements 


Work may involve sitting or standing for extended periods of time. Phone use and PC or laptop. Filing required. May require lifting and carrying boxes of supplies or files up to 50 lbs.  Must have sufficient mobility, included but not limited to bending, reaching, turning and kneeling to complete daily duties in a timely and efficient manner. 

  • Equipment and Machines 
    Operation of non-tactical and/or tactical Government-owned equipment, to include gas/diesel and/or electric forklifts, wheeled vehicles, use of pallet jacks, and other such material handling equipment (MHE). General office equipment, which includes telephone, fax machine, copier, PC/laptop, and other work-related tools as required. 

  • Attendance 
    Work assignments depend on requirements by the client. It is important to be able to work at least 8 hours a day for 5 days per week (Monday through Friday). Must exhibit flexibility of work hours to adjust to surge situations based on critical mission requirements. 

Period of Performance 

This is a short-term assignment as the RMAC contract expires on September 30, 2026. 

Other Essential Functions 

  • Candidates must exhibit a professional behavior that promotes teamwork, fosters cooperation, and enhances productivity in the workplace. Must be well organized with the ability to coordinate, prioritize and execute multiple tasks simultaneously in a high-pressure environment. Ability to communicate verbally and in writing to work effectively with a variety of government, military and contractor personnel at all levels. Must be able to interface effectively with individuals at all levels of work will be performed inside a warehouse facility. Work assignments vary based on client requirements. Standard core working hours are 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM Monday through Friday but depending upon organization. Grooming and dress usually business casual, but dependent on client’s standards. Must not pose a safety hazard to employees working in the same general area. 
             

WORK ENVIRONMENT, PHYSICAL AND MENTAL DEMANDS 

Work will be performed in a hazardous material warehouse and hazardous waste storage area, with frequent lifting up to 50 pounds, constant use of sight abilities while reviewing labels and other documents, constant use of speech/hearing abilities for communication, constant mental alertness, must possess planning/organizing skills, and must be able to work under deadlines. Ability to lift and carry loads of various weights and dimensions and ability to walk and stand for prolonged periods when working with hazardous material and waste.  May be required to operate a forklift up to 6,000 pounds.

Compensation

The annual starting hourly rate for this position is $22.89 per hour. Factors which may affect starting pay within this range may include geography/market, skills, education, experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS 

1. Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response (HAZWOPER) certified. 

2. Forklift experience preferred.  Must be able to obtain a forklift license within 45 days of start date.

Service Contract Act (SCA) Compensation & Benefits:

This is an hourly, overtime-eligible position that falls under the Service Contract Act (SCA). In accordance with the Health and Welfare provisions of the SCA, and in addition to your base hourly rate, you may be eligible to receive an additional health and welfare payment for each hour you work to ensure compliance with the minimums set forth by the act. The amount you are entitled to receive will vary depending upon the fringe benefits you select now and in the future.

       

Compensation Details:

$22.89
