Amentum is seeking a Welder to support the Space Force Range contract.

Key Responsibilities

  • Comply with manufacturing workman ship standards and procedures to meet quality and performance standards.
  • Weld all metals, ferrous and non-ferrous.
  • Lay out and fabricate precision weldments from blueprints and engineering concepts.
  • Operate various metal forming and cutting machines.  (Rollers, Shears, Breaks, Drill Press, etc.).
  • Rigging and operation of material handling equipment. (Overhead Cranes, Gantries, Forklifts, etc.)
  • Work with higher level welders on diversified and complex situations.
  • May be cross utilized in other areas as needed.

Minimum Requirements:

  • A.S. degree in Mechanical Technology or the completion of two (2) year related technical school or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Four or more years of related welding experience.
  • Certified Welder, preferred.
  • Ability to read and understand written assembly and manufacturing instructions, moderate to complex documentation, blueprints and the use of applicable tools used in this task; must be able to contribute to their refinement and improvement.
  • Capable of equipment set-ups.  Solid understanding of process flow and methods.
  • Maintain the integrity and safety of a clean working environment. 
  • Must comprehend and use mathematical functions applicable to a welding/fabrication shop environment.
  • Extremely knowledgeable with Welding Safety and OSHA requirements
  • Ability to apply a technical knowledge in the use of tools, equipment, and machinery to weld/fabricate metal components in the manufacturing process.
  • Experience using measuring instruments.
  • Must be physically capable to free climb and perform repairs from platforms in excess of 150 ft
  • Physical effort will range from light to heavy lifting and may include occasional heavy lifting up to 50  pounds.
  • Additional physical requirements are standing, bending, stooping, and reaching for extended periods of time.
  • Normal machine and metal shop environment, which may include exposure to oils, moderate noise levels, grinding and machining dust and chips, sharp edges and some variation in temperature.
  • Environment also includes eye hazard and exposure to rotating machines, punching, bending, welding and cutting equipment.
  • The flexibility to work occasional non-duty hours or on weekends to support specific project or mission requirements
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret Security Clearance, which includes U.S. citizenship
  • Salary determined by Collective Bargaining Agreement
  • Valid U.S. Driver’s License
