Amentum is seeking an Acoustic Engineering Technician II to support the Atlantic Undersea Test and Evaluation Center (AUTEC) Mission on Andros Island, Bahamas. AUTEC is a Major Range and Test Facility Base (MRTFB) and the Naval Undersea Warfare Center, Division Newport's largest single team project, providing both deep and shallow water test and training environments. Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret U.S. Government Clearance. Note: U.S. Citizenship is required to obtain a Secret Clearance.

This role involves supporting acoustic engineers in the testing, measurement, and analysis of sound and vibration for the AUTEC Project. The technician will support dockside and at-sea acoustic and environmental sensor testing for surface ships. This position requires setting up equipment, conducting field and laboratory tests, and maintaining calibration records to ensure accurate acoustic data collection for mission-critical projects.

 

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Set up, install, operate, calibrate, and maintain acoustic and environmental testing equipment (from component to machine level), including ADCP and CTD systems.
  • Perform corrective and preventative maintenance on electronic and mechanical systems, including soldering, following schematics, and servicing field/diesel generators.
  • Install, configure, and troubleshoot computer networks, specifically Local Area Networks (LAN), and associated assemblies.
  • Support engineering changes, perform equipment modifications, prepare technical documentation, and track inventory/repair logs.
  • Process raw acoustic data using specialized software, assisting in compiling technical reports and data visualizations.
  • Serve as the Department Calibration Lab delegate.
  • Work up to 16-hour shifts in at-sea environments for multiple days during high-demand periods.
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • Associate's degree or technical training in a related field. Formal education requirement can be fulfilled with additional work experience.
  • 3 years of working experience in one or more of the following fields: Engineering, Electronics, Information Technology, computer networking and troubleshooting, mechanical, electrical, and oceanographic measurement.
  • Must have Security+ certification or the ability to obtain it within the first 4 months of employment.
  • Coding experience (e.g., Python, MATLAB) for data processing/automation.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Windows, Office, and Excel.
  • Working knowledge of at-sea array deployment and rigging is a plus.
  • Experience with ADCP and CTD systems is a plus.
  •  Must be medically able to reside on a remote island with limited medical facilities.
  • Ability to work up to 16-hour shifts in an at-sea environment for multiple days.
  • Must be able to walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, sit, climb, stand, balance, and reach above head.
  • Must be able to lift and move up to 50 pounds.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret US Government Clearance (U.S. Citizenship required).
  • Valid US passport and driver’s license required.
