Amentum is seeking a Cement Mason for North of Las Vegas, NV.

Purpose and Scope: 

Reporting to a Cement Mason Journeyman, the incumbent works with concrete by placing, finishing, protecting and repairing concrete in engineering, construction and renovation projects.  Position is represented by a Union Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA). 

Minimum Position Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:

  • Journeyman
  • Must be able to place, level, and finish concrete by using power screed machine or by Rodding with straight edge.
  • Must be proficient in the use of hand tools such as bull floats, hand floats, hand trowels, etc.
  • Must be able to run gas-powered trowel machine, grinder, bushing machine, etc.
  • Must be familiar with placing/finishing on-grade concrete via slip-form paver. 
  • Must be able to spray curing and confirm compounds.
  • Must have knowledge and experience in concrete spall and crack repair; removing and replacing with rapid-set concrete.
  • Must have knowledge and experience making concrete joint repairs, crack chasing, and epoxy entrainment. 
  • Must have experience in grouting by hand or pump.
  • Must be able to wear a respirator when handling epoxy or cementitious materials.
  • Must comply with all safety practices and environmental regulations.
  • Must have computer skills to include computer-based time keeping programs and MS Office products.
  • Perform all other position-related duties as assigned or requested.

Minimum Required Certifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • OSHA-10 card, Construction Industry.
  • CPR/First-Aid card.
  • ACI Certification-Flatwork finishes.
  • No rehires, unless approved by local HR/LR.
  • MUST be able to meet eligibility requirements to obtain and maintain the required government Top Secret security clearance and access to the work location.
  • Must pass pre-hire drug screening and Fit-for-Duty physical.
  • Must be able to work in a remote location with limited medical personnel and facilities.
  • Will need to bring: Social Security Card, original state issued birth certificate or Naturalization Certificate, a valid driver’s license, and certifications listed in Minimum Requirements.

Work Environment, Physical Demands, and Mental Demands:

  • Work is performed outdoors in all weather conditions. 
  • Frequent lifting/carrying 10 to 50 pounds of materials/supplies/tools.
  • Frequent pushing and pulling using one/both hands/arms while performing concrete work exerting up to 50 pounds of force.
  • Occasional climbing and walking on rebar while performing work over forms. 
  • Constant kneeling, crouching and crawling while installing/finishing cement/concrete surfaces.
  • Constant use of both hands/arms reaching/handling/grasping/fingering/gripping while using tools to perform job tasks. 
  • Constant use of sight abilities to perform job duties requiring near- and mid-range vision, and hand/eye coordination.
  • Frequent use of speech/hearing abilities while giving/receiving instructions, and in routine exchanges of information.

Compensation Details:

$46.61
