Primary Responsibilites: Responsible for construction inspections at MacDill AFB, Tampa, FL



  • Essential Functions: 
    • Serves as a construction representative, responsible for monitoring the contractor’s quality control and inspection program for construction of various facilities and infrastructure.  Works with engineers, architects, and technicians to help solve technical issues during design and ensure constructability is a major factor in solutions.  Reviews plans and specifications for clarity, completeness, and the ability to construct in accordance with applicable codes and permits.
    • Helps coordinate Pre-Construction Meetings with 6th Contracting Squadron including all interested parties to discuss scheduling, mission impacts, safety, relocation of occupants and any other concerns.  Attends conference; briefs on contract plans/specifications and special requirements, answers questions regarding construction.  Reviews and approves contractor progress schedules.  Ensures schedule is accurate, reasonable, in proper format, correctly sequenced, and  costs are properly allocated.  For projects inspected for Air Force (AF) Contracting, progress schedules will be reviewed and approval recommended to the AF.
    • Reviews contract Submittals, Requests for Information (RFI’s) and shop drawings.  Coordinates with engineers/architects or answ3ers RFI’s.  Ensures that submittals and RFI responses comply with the Performance Work Statement. Inspects work in progress, ensuring materials and work procedures conform to contract specifications and design drawings.
    • Inspects work daily, ensuring materials and work procedures conform to safety standards, contract specifications and plans.  Collects photos of project activity and completes an AF 1477 filing same into the project file.  Reviews and approves contractor’s weekly progress reports (PR’s).  Record actual percentage of work completed and accepted; essential for progress payments. Update status of projects in Air Force and company management systems.
    • As customer requests or unforeseen conditions arise during construction not included in the contract, the Inspector will assist the Project Engineer/Architect in preparing modifications to the contract including the Statement of Work. When requested, attends and assists in negotiations of modifications and addendums.
    • Conducts Pre-final and Final Inspections with 6th Contracting Squadron and Construction Flight Chief.  Records inspections and follows up to ensure all corrections are completed. Completes contract close out of completed construction contracts and submits a Task Order Evaluation to the Construction Flight Chief and AF Coordinator.  Responds to Warranty report and submits to AF Coordinator.  Performs secondary surveillance on projects managed by the Corps of Engineers when assigned and works directly with the Chief of Construction for all outages and shop support requests.
    • Performs other duties as assigned.
    • On-Call 24-7 response with the ability to respond to base emergency within 1-hour

Required Education / Skills: 

  • Minimum 10 – 15 years broad experience in construction and construction contracts, preferably in facilities and/or infrastructure.
  • Specialized Technical Knowledge (as required)
  • Project management and organizational skills.
  • Knowledge of generally accepted standards of workmanship in construction/maintenance of facilities, grounds, grounds, and infrastructure systems.
  • Ability to communicate ideas effectively with personnel at all levels
  • Knowledge of Government contracting terminology and applications
  • Knowledge of environmental permitting requirements (DOH, SWPPP, SWFWMD).
  • Basic knowledge of OSHA regulations
  • Basic knowledge of EM-385
  • Ability to walk, climb, bend, etc., as necessary to properly inspect construction projects

 

 

Certificate / License / Registration:

High School Diploma

Valid Florida Driver’s License

Ability to Hold and Maintain Secret Security Clearance

 

Travel: Minimal, as required

  • Work hours are normally 8 hours per day and 5 days per week, Monday-Friday. Regular attendance of scheduled hours is extremely important. Punctuality and regular attendance are necessary. Must have flexibility of workdays to cover weekends if required.

Compensation Details:

$100,000 - $111,000
