Under general supervision, the Construction Safety Supervisor will perform duties requiring knowledge of construction safety standards, building codes, and basic engineering principles to ensure compliance with safety protocols and regulatory requirements. As a critical member of the site construction team, this position will provide expertise and leadership to manage safety processes during all phases of construction, working collaboratively to meet project deliverables and maintain a safe work environment.


Duties & Responsibilities


 Oversee and enforce construction safety measures on project sites to ensure compliance with company safety policies, relevant codes, and regulations.

  • Review and approve safety plans, procedures, and documentation as required for construction activities.
  • Assist in evaluating construction supervision to verify adherence to safety protocols and ensure work meets design specifications and standards.
  • Conduct hazard assessments, site walk-downs, and safety inspections of installed commodities to mitigate potential risks.
  • Facilitate construction and start-up safety requirements, including developing safety guidelines and facilitating toolbox talks.
  • Investigate and document all safety incidents, near misses, and accidents while recommending corrective actions and ensuring lessons learned are implemented.
  • Collaborate with the project management team to ensure cost control measures include safety considerations.
  • Prepare safety reports and reviews based on job site safety audits, including recommendations and observations for improving safety standards.
  • Review contractor and subcontractor safety compliance, providing feedback and corrective actions as necessary.
  • Advise project engineering and field teams on design adjustments to comply with safety requirements during construction.
  • Ensure timely procurement and proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and other safety devices or materials.
  • Obtain necessary permits and coordinate safety inspections with local, state, and federal agencies.
  • Provide documentation and distribution of safety-related design changes and field modifications.
  • Assist in assembling and reviewing start-up work packages to incorporate safety aspects effectively.
  • Work with home office engineering, original equipment manufacturers (OEMs), and vendors to resolve safety-related issues during project execution.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Experience


  • A degree in civil engineering, occupational safety, construction management, or a related discipline.
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in construction safety, preferably across commercial, industrial, and/or infrastructure projects.
  • Strong understanding of safety principles, OSHA standards, and local, state, and federal construction regulations.
  • Experience conducting and documenting safety inspections, audits, and training programs.
  • Familiarity with safety-related design reviews, construction materials, and construction permit processes.
  • Strong analytical skills to review safety metrics and production reports to enhance overall site safety.
  • Effective communication and documentation skills to prepare reports and deliver presentations to project stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and safety-related software or tools.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams, contractors, and subcontractors.
  • Employees must read, speak, and comprehend English to the extent that they can perform the contract requirements and comply with installation emergency procedures

Highly Desired Skills and Experience


  • Certifications such as Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Construction Health and Safety Technician (CHST), or equivalent.
  • Experience working on high-stakes construction projects, such as LEED-certified buildings or facilities with unique engineering requirements.
  • Familiarity with root cause analysis (RCA) and risk mitigation strategies.
  • Experience with safety aspects of international construction projects and coordination with multinational teams.
  • Knowledge of safety requirements for water treatment, power generation, or telecom infrastructure projects.
  • Ability to lead incident investigations and implement safety-focused corrective action programs.

Travel Requirements

  • Frequent travel to project sites is required, and the Construction Safety Supervisor must be available for extended stays at project locations during critical construction phases.
  • OCONUS-based; willing to travel CONUS 10%
  • Willing to work rotating shifts as needed, including nights and weekends

Additional notes


  • The ideal candidate will have a proven ability to balance technical requirements with safety standards while maintaining alignment with project cost, schedule, and quality objectives. Candidates with prior experience in end-to-end project delivery and owner’s representation for construction safety will be preferred.
  • Applicants must have authorization to work in host country.
