Job Summary

Under general supervision, the MWR Technician – Fitness Tech coordinates activities required to operate Morale, Welfare, and Recreation (MWR) facilities

Principal Accountabilities

(Typical duties include the following, although specific duties vary by assignment or contract.)

· Fitness certification should be from a creditable state, national or international certifying organization.

· Candidate must have the skills and personality traits to effectively lead and motivate students; comfortable instructing group exercise.

· Good customer service and people skills are necessary.

· A good grasp of music and rhythm in order to choose the right songs for choreography is needed.

· Performs other duties as assigned

Knowledge & Skills

· Knowledge of exercise science, health and fitness

· Good interpersonal and customer service skills

Experience & Education

· High school diploma or equivalent.

· Minimum two (2) years’ of related experience preferred

· Obtain certification in cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), and automated external defibrillator (AED), through either the Red Cross or American Heart

· Prefer at least one year group exercise experience as an instructor or student.

Physical Requirements/Working Environment

· Living and working conditions at the assignment location could be remote and uncomfortable.

· Long hours, exposure to weather and hazardous conditions.

· Personnel should be aware of moving on short notice and under adverse conditions.
