Amentum, a global leader in advanced engineering, technical, and professional services serving the US government, allies, and critical infrastructure sectors, is seeking a Home Delivery Driver to support a unique US Navy program based on the island of Diego Garcia.

Job Responsibilities

The Home Delivery Driver is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of motor vehicles to provide timely delivery services while adhering to safety protocols and applicable regulations. This role requires a commitment to customer satisfaction and compliance with all driving and transportation standards. Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Vehicle Operations:

  • Operating Government and Contractor vehicles safely and responsibly to deliver goods and materials according to established schedules.
  • Handling deliveries for residential and other designated locations with a focus on timeliness, accuracy, and professionalism.
  • Managing and verifying delivery schedules, ensuring all items are accounted for and delivered to the correct destinations.
  • Using appropriate loading, securing, and unloading techniques to ensure goods are delivered in a safe and undamaged condition.

Compliance and Licensing:

  • Maintaining a valid Driver’s License in accordance with applicable Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) requirements, with demonstrated equivalency for foreign driver’s licenses where required.
  • Possessing and maintaining a Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) appropriate to the class and size of vehicles operated, if operating vehicles larger than pick-up trucks.
  • Adhering to all applicable laws, regulations, and company policies related to vehicle operation and road safety.
  • Completing required vehicle inspections, ensuring the roadworthiness of transportation equipment before use.

Safety and Reporting:

  • Strictly adhering to safety protocols, including defensive driving techniques and preventive maintenance measures.
  • Reporting any mechanical or operational issues with vehicles to the designated authority for timely repair.
  • Keeping accurate records of deliveries, vehicle inspections, and mileage logs as required.

Customer Service:

  • Providing exceptional customer service to patrons, ensuring a positive delivery experience.
  • Addressing any delivery or service-related inquiries promptly and professionally.

Minimum Requirements

  • Valid Driver’s License, meeting applicable DMV or foreign licensing requirements with demonstrated equivalency to U.S. standards (as applicable).
  • For drivers operating vehicles larger than pick-up trucks, a valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) appropriate to the vehicle class and size is required.
  • Proficiency in safe vehicle operation, including larger commercial vehicles if required under the contract scope.
  • Excellent time management skills to ensure deliveries are made promptly and according to schedule.
  • Strong attention to detail for accurate record-keeping and delivery documentation.
  • Ability to safely load, secure, transport, and unload goods in compliance with safety standards.
  • Employees must read, speak, and comprehend English to the extent that they can perform the contract requirements and comply with installation emergency procedures.

  • Passport must be valid for a minimum of one (1) year or more at the time of hiring.

  • Ability to obtain country-specific visas per the U.S. Department of State Foreign Clearance Guide.

  • Ability to successfully pass contract medical requirements and maintain compliance throughout the duration of deployment.

  • Must be able to obtain and maintain facility credentials/authorization.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior experience in an austere OCONUS (Outside the Continental United States) environment with a multi-national workforce.
  • Familiarity with military or Government delivery/logistics operations and practices.
  • Knowledge of vehicle maintenance procedures for ensuring roadworthiness.

OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES

Working Environment

This position is located on Diego Garcia, British Indian Ocean Territory (BIOT), a remote overseas location supporting U.S. Government operations. Employees may work in office, industrial, warehouse, port, airfield, and outdoor environments and may be exposed to high temperatures, humidity, inclement weather, noise, dust, and uneven terrain. Work schedules may include evenings, weekends, holidays, and extended hours based on operational requirements.

Physical Requirements

Requirements may include prolonged sitting, standing, walking, climbing stairs, lifting up to 25 pounds regularly and 50 pounds occasionally, and working in both indoor and outdoor environments. Must be able to meet all medical, security, and deployment requirements associated with assignment to a remote overseas location.
