Job Description
The Lead Project Manager is a lab leader and manager for the Department of Justice (DOJ) Civil Division Automated Litigation Support (ALS) Lab. The Lead Project Manager (LPM) will be responsible for coordinating and executing all eDiscovery tasks and related responsibilities including the collection, tracking, processing, hosting, review, and production of Electronically Stored Information (ESI) as well as hard copy material to support Department of Justice (DOJ) investigators and attorneys during the discovery phase of litigation. Responsibilities and Duties Generally, the LPM must:
- Seamlessly work with Amentum managers and technical staff as well as DOJ attorneys and case managers; all having varying levels technical skills.
- Be able to manage six (6) to ten (10) moderately active and moderately sized cases.
- Have advanced to expert knowledge of data hosting platforms such as Relativity. In addition, a working knowledge of Technology Assisted Review (TAR) tools.
- Finally, the LPM should be knowledgeable in Electronic File Processing (EFP) such as LAW or RelOne Processing.
- Have experience designing and implementing workflows from evidence collection phase all the way through document production.
- Have experience formulating project budgets and developing level-of-effort (LOE) projections.
- Have experience using industry standard chain-of-custody (COC) procedures and be familiar with forensic approaches for preserving data integrity. This includes managing COC documentation and coordinating hand-off of evidence between multiple internal and external parties.
- Will be adept at absorbing diffuse information, critically analyzing it, preparing summary reports, and presenting the same to internal as well as external stakeholders.
Project Management:
- The LPM will lead consulting with legal teams including attorneys and paralegals on various issues including designing and implementing workflows, complex issues related to review, Relativity-based CAL and TAR options, Relativity email threading and clustering, FTP access, searching, coding panel creation, data delivery, and data production.
- Handle, manage, and resolve complex issues related to productions; complex coding creation; and serve as the final QC/QA of data loads.
- Train legal team users on requested Relativity skills e.g. batching documents and basic searching.
- Provide outstanding client focused service including creation and execution of client training programs with related documentation e.g. QRCs (quick reference cards) and proactive client outreach e.g. asking for feedback, advanced project planning, scheduled client checkups, and requisite post-mortems.
- Collaborate with the ALS Manager and Deputy to identify and explore new custom technologies or custom workflows that include the core tasks of testing, recommending best practices, creating deployment timelines, executing training, and integrating the new technology or workflow for daily use.
- Participate and collaborate in client and cross-functional groups that request remediation or feedback.
- Will be adept at absorbing diverse data sources and information, critically analyzing it, preparing summary reports, document SOPs (standard operating procedures), and presenting the same to internal as well as external stakeholders. Moreover, the LPM must be able to simultaneously manage the workflow of all the requests related to active and various sized cases.
Staff Management:
- Proactively manage and directly supervise a minimum of four (4) senior technical direct reports to include engaging team members and assisting with their personalized development and training/technology plans; addressing employee relation issues; and managing time sheets and leave requests.
- Lead workflow management that includes assessing the requirements of each task as they are received and subsequently assigning the work order request to the appropriate team member based on said assessment and current workload. Actively track team members’ weekly activities to report to ALS Manager, leadership, and client.
- Lead and host weekly meetings for direct reports to discuss requests, technical tasks, and admin tasks.
Required:
- Must be able to obtain and maintain Moderate Risk Public Trust (MRPT) facility credentials/authorization. Note: US Citizenship is required for MRPT facility credentials/authorization at this work location.
- Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in a technical field. Advanced degree or Juris Doctor (JD) is desirable.
- Requires knowledge of litigation discovery process, and the Electronic Discovery Reference Model (EDRM) workflow.
- At least four (4) years of experience in an eDiscovery position exhibiting progressively more responsible experience in major litigation support projects.
- At least three (3) years of in-depth, hands-on experience using Relativity/RelOne is required.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills are required.
- Need to be proactive, organized and detail oriented.
- Must be willing to work on a flexible or dead-line driven schedule including occasional evenings and weekends.
- Must be in the DMV area and able to go in office a couple of time a week and as needed.
Preferred:
- Hands-on experience with Relativity/RelOne highly preferred.
- Hands-on with TAR and CAL highly preferred.
- Four (4+) years commercial/vendor and/or law firm litigation support experience highly preferred.
Preferred certifications:
- Relativity RCA certification; Certified eDiscovery Specialist (CEDS); Project Management Professional (PMP).
- Hands-on experience with a variety of litigation support tools such as IPRO, Everlaw, Concordance, LiveNote, Sanctions, and Trial Director are preferred.
Compensation Details:
$120,000 - $140,000
