Job Title: Mechanic II Airframer (AM) NAMCE

Location: NAS Lemoore

Preferred Airframes: F/A-18 E/F/G

Summary/Description:

Works as an AM Quality Assurance Representative and Mechanic II to support the NAMCE Program.

Ensures contract performance conforms to established standards and governmental agency guidelines, guaranteeing lasting customer satisfaction. Will also perform aircraft maintenance to include removal, replacement, repair, and modification of aircraft and/or aircraft systems and components.  Apply technical knowledge and experience to repair aircraft discrepancies.  Must be able to read, write, and interpret instructions, technical manuals, and/or directives necessary for the accomplishment of job assignments.  The Mech II will be required to inspect Mech II and Mech I maintenance practices and standards on a regular basis, performing audits of programs.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Familiar with various aviation operational/field concepts, practices, and procedures.
  • Experienced incident investigator using various techniques to determine root cause.
  • Advise various departments, management staff and safety personnel on the impact of policies and regulations on the Company Operations.
  • Good written and oral communication skills; working knowledge of word-processing and integrated software applications; organizational skills and ability to perform detail-oriented work required.
  • Position requires familiarity with and ability to stay current with industry standards.
  • Compile and analyze site data to implement procedures to improve processes and reduce worksite injuries.
  • Track corrective actions taken in response to internal and customer audit findings.
  • Assist with coordinating and delivery of training programs and employee safety procedures.
  • Analyze collected data and the implementation of programs to reduce or abate worksite hazards.
  • Investigate accidents, injuries, and complaints concerning hazards in the workplace.
  • Assist the Quality Assurance Department in aircraft mishap and investigations.
  • Comply with all Amentum Safety Programs and Quality Assurance requirements and goals.

Qualifications/Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent military experience.
  • Class A School (or military equivalent) for applied rate or possess a valid A&P license and recent aviation F/A-18 maintenance experience.
  • Must have a High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Must have 10 years’ O-level F/A-18 E/F aircraft system maintenance experience.
  • Preferred 60 months as a Quality Assurance Representative or Collateral Duty Inspector Authorization.
  • Knowledge and use of Quality Assurance assets in the O-level Community.
  • Required to perform assigned maintenance tasks is mandatory.
  • Shift work may be required.
  • Obtain any additional qualifications or license required to maintain aircraft and qualifications.
  • Must be able to read, write, and speak English.
  • You may be required to qualify for additional certifications such as Low Power Engine Turn-Up Operator (LPT), High Power Engine Turn-Up Operator (HPT), and/or Plane Captain. 
  • Must have ability to inspect and maintain all company and customer assets, including all assigned Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), in accordance with applicable directives, and ensure that those assets are utilized in a safe, effective and efficient manner.
  • Must have ability to participate in the investigation of any injury and/or the resolution of any problems in quality or performance that may hinder production or be detrimental to the program.
  • Must participate in the training and qualification of new personnel.
  • Must promote communication to enhance and encourage employee awareness of accident prevention, quality of work, and environmental compliance.
  • Must promote positive communication with all site departments, company management, and our customers to ensure the proper execution of our contract.
  • Must participate in required daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual training and ensure that it is documented in a timely manner.
  • Complete initial attendance sheet daily, verifying your start time and proper accounting of all assigned PPE.
  • Must have completed CNATTU course C-555-0053.
  • Must have Entry Authorization for certifying fuel tank maintenance.

Must be able to obtain and maintain a Tier 3 US Government Clearance.

Must be able to obtain and maintain facility credentials/authorization.

Note: US Citizenship is required for facility credentials/authorization at this work location.

Work Environment, Physical Demands, and Mental Demands:

Combination of a typical office environment and field work in an industrial setting.  May be required to travel domestically.  Must be physically able to perform all assigned duties including occasional lifting up to 50 pounds, constant sitting while using the computer terminal, constant use of sight abilities while reviewing documents, constant use of speech/hearing abilities for communication, constant mental alertness, must possess planning/organizing skills, and must be able to work under deadlines.

Salary and Other Compensation:

The hourly rate for this position is $48.37 per hour. Plus $8.30 per hour, up to 40 hours per week, for Health & Welfare.
