The COMET contract provides overall management and implementation of ground systems capabilities, flight hardware processing, and launch operations at NASA's Kennedy Space Center (KSC) in Florida. These tasks will support the International Space Station, Ground Systems Development and Operations, and the Space Launch System, Orion Multi-Purpose Crew Vehicle, and Launch Services programs.
Must demonstrate the ability and experience to set up and operate manual and CNC machines (mill & lathe) to fabricate and modify components.
Must have a fundamental understanding of maintenance requirements and troubleshooting, also some
knowledge of the TVAC system and how it works.
• Requires the ability to independently determine speed and feed rates for common cutting tools and
materials.
• Requires the ability to independently exact setups and perform fabrication per print and use of drilling,
turning, tapping, tapping, reaming, and grinding operations as required. Interpret engineering
drawings, blueprint and technical specifications with high degree of accuracy.
• Demonstrate advanced communication and interpersonal skills to effectively communicate work
status, resolve technical issues and assist in troubleshooting and identifying solutions to ensure
continuation of work to meet demanding schedules.
• Must be able to coordinate work between multiple project disciplines
• Ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects without missing deadlines or sacrificing accuracy
• Must be self-motivated, demonstrate initiative, and be able to work in dynamic environments
• Must be able to work independently or with minimal supervision
• Demonstrated written and verbal presentation skills for interfacing with management and customers
(internal and external)
• Familiar with basic mechanical equipment and the different systems used in a machine shop.
• Ability to build positive/effective relationships with customers and co-workers and demonstrates focus on satisfying both internal and external customers
• Accepts responsibility for safety of yourself and others
Qualifications
High School Diploma or equivalent, technical training in the applicable area of expertise, and required certifications and 20 years of related experience and technical training and certification as required across all areas of industry accepted disciplines for the technical support to aerospace systems and equipment.
Must have a valid US driver's license.

Service Contract Act (SCA) Compensation & Benefits:
This is an hourly, overtime-eligible position that falls under the Service Contract Act (SCA). In accordance with the Health and Welfare provisions of the SCA, and in addition to your base hourly rate, you may be eligible to receive an additional health and welfare payment for each hour you work to ensure compliance with the minimums set forth by the act. The amount you are entitled to receive will vary depending upon the fringe benefits you select now and in the future.

90,000-95,000
