Amentum is seeking a Safety Specialist for a position on Kauai, HI. Under close supervision, the Safety Specialist will prepare, coordinate, implement, and monitor environmental, safety and health (ESH) policies, plans and procedures to assure the maximum safety of personnel, equipment, and property.

Responsibilities

  • Assists in providing OSHA, HAZMAT, HAZWASTE, and other related EHS training to employees.

  • Assist in collecting shipping and coordinate samples for analysis. Monitor and document results. Note: If employee is required to certify and ship Hazmat Material, it is understood that he/she will be upgraded to an SA-4 Hazmat Certifier/Shipper. Employee must have the necessary Certificate to be upgraded.

  • Assists in HW operations, preparing proper documents and shipment of hazardous waste from "cradle to grave".

  • Assist in maintaining administrative files.

  • Assist in documenting and maintains EHS data, logs and records.

  • Assist in preparing reports IAW State and federal laws, Koa Lani and PMRF policies and procedures.

  • Assist in auditing facilities and operations IAW OSHA guidelines and monitors follow up for deficiencies.

  • Researches and furnishes SDS to tenants, government and employees as required.

  • Provides personal protective equipment and/or researches and procures for additional equipment as needed.

  • Member of the Spill Response Team.

  • Performs other duties as required by Supervisor.

Physical Elements/ Environment

  • Periodical exposure to hazardous material.

  • Lifting, Pushing/Pulling: 50+lbs

  • Work positions requirements: walking, standing, sitting

  • Customer contact, Extended workday, Confined work area, Office laboratory, Field Assignment, and Increment Weather

Minimum Qualifications

Experience

  • Must have at least one year experience in the Environmental, Health and Safety field.

  • Valid state driver's license.

  • Must be capable of operating a forklift.

  • Must have basic typing skills and possess the ability to prepare typewritten documents.

  • Must possess the following PC skills: Word, Excel, Outlook

Education

  • AS Degree or equivalent through fundamental certificates in the Environmental, Health and Safety field. (Job related experience may be substituted for education.)

  • 40-Hour HAZWOPER Operations Level II.

  • Certificate: OSHA 10 Hour General Industry and OSHA 10 Hour Construction Industry, EPA Environmental Education (Desired)

Security Clearance
Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret US Government Clearance. Note: US Citizenship is required to obtain and maintain a Secret Clearance. Applicants selected either must currently possess a Secret clearance or will be subject to a US Government Security Investigation and must meet eligibility requirements to obtain clearance prior to commencement of employment and maintain a security clearance for access to classified information or Closed/Restricted Areas throughout duration of employment. 

       

Compensation Details:

$36.31
