Safety Specialist – Data Center Operations

Our Telecommunications Group has been at the forefront of creating a new generation of wireless communication infrastructure for over 40 years.  We specialize in everything from network development to complete telecom life cycle solutions. While the wireless world is ever changing, the demand for innovative technology and long-term support services remains constant. These services include site acquisition, design, and construction, to full operations, maintenance, and deconstruction.

Responsibilities

Manage the Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) program for multiple offices and project locations. Ensure adequate staffing and training of the required EHS resources. Serve as a technical resource to provide direction on EHS policies/procedures, and for interpreting regulations and compliance requirements. Assist in providing: i) strategic direction and management, ii) people development, and iii) EHS program development and implementation specific to the Region. Support Beyond Zero performance that is inclusive in the Amentum’s vision and strategic plans. Directly supervise Site Safety/Project/Programs with Operation Managers.

This is an onsite position located in Sterling, VA. Travel will be required to each of the markets as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Take personal ownership and responsibility for protecting people from harm, and for developing strategies that drive performance and support continuous improvement.
  • Maintain communication with the senior management team to provide technical resource guidance, and to ensure consistent implementation of EHS process tools that support Regional EHS strategic plans and objectives.
  • Support the EHS staff and Operations counterparts to implement the Regional EHS business plan and to monitor performance.
  • Establish working relationships with operations, EHS, sales, and support organizations to ensure consistency across Regional projects/offices.
  • Oversee on-site EHS (Health, Safety, and Environment) performance by continuously monitoring and analyzing it to pinpoint areas for enhancement with subcontractor performance.
  • Support strategies for developing EHS resources that includes recruiting, performing new hire onboarding, growing, and retaining of Regional EHS professionals. Strategic planning includes career development, succession planning and scheduled timely performance appraisals. I would remove this statement.∙ Support specific EHS initiatives to drive Regional Beyond Zero performance.
  • Conduct EHS training relative to the Region’s needs; include EHS indoctrination of key regional resources.
  • Ensure mandatory training requirements are consistently met, and develop regional customization and implementation planning.
  • Perform on site EHS audits and site inspections relative to the programs needs.
    Involved in supporting EHS policy and procedure implementation specific to program needs.
  • Develop written EHS reports and other communications as required.
    Share lessons learned from projects/offices, within the Region and share corporate/regional lessons learned within the Region.
  • Monitor and support development of EHS recognition and awards programs.

Qualifications

  • A minimum of 5 years of related experience (with an EHS degree / certification), OR a minimum of 10 years of related experience (in the absence of any of the above degrees / certifications)
  • Direct work experience interacting with regulatory agencies and/or compliance officers is required.
  • Working knowledge of federal, state and local health and safety, and environmental regulations is required.
  • Experience working in any one or multiples of the following is essential: telecommunications, data centers, OR commercial construction (subject matter expert) with specific experience planning, training, & fall protection and implementing construction means and methods that ensure the safety of all project stakeholders 
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Must be Proficient with MS Word and Excel
  • US Citizen or eligible to work for any US employer without visa sponsorship

       

Compensation Details:

$110,000 - 122,000

       

The compensation range or hourly rate listed for this position is provided as a good-faith estimate of what the company intends to offer for this role at the time this posting was issued. Actual compensation may vary based on factors such as job responsibilities, education, experience, skills, internal equity, market data, applicable collective bargaining agreements, and relevant laws.
