About the Opportunity

An opening has become available in the Robotics and Remote handling Team at Amentum for an enthusiastic Senior Software Quality Engineer. The successful applicant will join a growing team of engineers who specialise in developing, building and deploying robotic systems for solving clients’ challenges such as maintenance and inspection activities in challenging environments across a number of industrial sectors. Primarily responsible for supporting the UK Nuclear fleet, the robotics team have also provided robotics platforms for Space, Defence, Road, Rail and Critical Infrastructure.

The key focus of the role is to provide infrastructure and software capability required to ensure safe and successful project delivery.

As part of the robotics software team the successful candidate will work alongside robotics software engineers and also have the opportunity to mentor and train less experienced members of the team. Learning opportunities such as formal training or attending conferences are encouraged.

Key Responsibilities

  • Responsible for software quality assurance for our robotic systems and support the development and implementation of robotic systems for a range of industrial applications.

  • Work alongside colleagues and collaboration partners to innovate and develop best in class solutions to new and novel challenges.

  • Support implementation of solutions where required both within the UK and overseas.

  • Liaison with other associated departments / organisations both within and outside Amentum.

Here’s What You’ll Need

  • Significant experience in a related role.

  • Strong background in software development (C++) and debugging.

  • Hands on experience deploying software in remote hardware systems.

  • Experience with software testing frameworks (e.g. gtest, pytest) and continuous integration (e.g. gitlab, azure).

  • Deployment of production software through containerisation (e.g. Docker) and package management (e.g. apt).

  • Experience with infrastructure management, source code version and license management.
