Amentum is looking for a Submarine Peculiar Special & Support Equipment Engineering Technician II to provide Program Engineering Services to Commander, Naval Submarine Force Atlantic-COMSUBLANT (TYCOM), Submarine Squadron Six and Eight (CSS-6/8) and Naval Submarine Support Facility (NSSF New London) Support.
Essential Responsibilities:
Perform preventive and corrective maintenance and certification of all PSSE equipment, Missile Tube Loading/Handling Maintenance Platforms, weapon cradles, and ballast cans located in Groton, CT and Norfolk, VA. Assessment and corrective maintenance if needed, not all equipment assessed needs corrected.
TOTEMS, Torpedo Shapes, Harpoon Shapes and non-ordnance variants, AURVS, AURES (Mk 101 & Mk 112), Mk 60 AURS's, (163) missile tube ballast cans (109-54), AURBb's, Mk 34 shipping & stowage skids, (56) AERO 51B/E munitions trailers (52-4), (12) SSN688 VLS Platforms and handling slings, (5) SSN774 VLS Platforms, (3) Virginia Payload Tube (VPT) SSN774 VLS Platforms (1-2), TMD slings, CLS ordnance and non-ordnance handling gear, Weight Handling Equipment, handling slings and beams, Deployment Stands, Torpedo and Tomahawk Ancillary Gear, VA Class Weapon Cradles, Capsule Loading Covers, MK-23 Tilt Fixture and all empty containers, Crew Training Shapes (CTS), and Mk 793 Mod 0.
Weight Handling Equipment: Conduct preventative maintenance and testing of Platform Lifting Slings, Ballast Can Lifting Slings, Adaptor Hooks, Nylon Slings, TMD Lifting Harness Assemblies, Taglines, Pendent Slings, Torpedo Handling Bands and CLS Handling Bands (Norfolk).
Missile Tube Loading/Handling Maintenance Platform (R-10) preventive maintenance requires blasting & paint of entire platform to accomplish. Missile Tube Loading/Handling Maintenance Platform corrective maintenance includes but is not limited to replacing damage or missing hardware, replace or repairing bent grab rails or structural beams, repair gratings, repair support legs, repair corrosion damage and repair or replace aluminum bronze bushings.
Schedule and conduct preventative maintenance IAW current directives for all 688 and VA and Columbia Class platforms. Minimum of (4) procedures annually.
Schedule PMS and maintenance per technical manual, PMS Schedule, Drawings and Test Loads Methods Drawing (TLMD).
Perform Operational Procedures (OP's) on the following: AURVS's, Missile Tube Ballast Cans, AURBb's, Mk 60 AURSs, TOTEMS, MK-48 FITMENT Shape, TOMFISH, AERO 51 Class Munition Trailers, MK-34 Shipping and Storage Containers, MK-30 Shipping and Storage Containers, CNU 308 Shipping and Storage Containers, Mk 793 Shipping and Storage Containers, and Torpedo Mounted Dispenser (TMD's) IAW Technical Manual and local instructions.
Maintain certification by performing required maintenance and minor repairs per PMS, technical manuals, Drawings, and TLMD, in addition to, documenting all maintenance and repairs.
Maintain HAZMAT lockers IAW OSHA directives to contain all HAZMAT required to perform preventive and corrective maintenance.
Maintain a database of PSSE location and maintenance status (condition code) for all PSSE Non-Ordnance equipment. Update other Government databases with new information as required.
Vertical Launch System (VLS) and VPT Loading and Maintenance Platforms: Conduct preventative and corrective maintenance. Support all shipping and receiving evolutions.
AURVS/AURES, Mk 60 AUR's, Crew Training Shapes (CTS), TOTEMS, Torpedo Shapes: Support all handling services (canning, un-canning, moving), including shipping and receiving evolutions. Conduct any required stenciling of the containers prior to shipping. 3) Mk 101 & Mk 112: Support all testing, installation, and handling services, including shipping and receiving evolutions. Conduct any required testing, installation and removal for AURS.
Ballast Cans and AURBb's: Conduct preventative and corrective maintenance. Support all required shipping and receiving evolutions. Support storage and inventory management of Missile Tube Ballast Cans and AURBb's including the construction of storage chocks.
Torpedo Mounted Dispensers (TMD) and deck skids: Support all shipping and receiving evolutions. Support handling and transportation services (canning, un-canning, banding, moving). Conduct all stenciling of containers to be shipped. Transport TMD's to and from NAVSTA Norfolk Pier 3, CEP-204, NWS Yorktown and local contractor facilities.
Perform the on-load and off-load of 688 Class, Virginia and Columbia Class PSSE and non-ordnance equipment to and from trailers, trucks and submarines and Pier 3, CEP-204 and local contractor facilities.
Weight Handling Equipment: Conduct preventative maintenance and testing of Platform Lifting Slings, Ballast Can Lifting Slings, Adaptor Hooks, Nylon Slings, TMD Lifting Harness Assemblies, Taglines, Pendent Slings, Torpedo Handling Bands and CLS Handling Bands (Norfolk).
Non-Ordnance Handling (CSS-6&8/NSSF New London) Support
Provide PSSE Non-Ordnance Technical Support on waterfront (Pier Services) expertise during the delivery, loading/off-loading, and storage of applicable PSSE equipment, inert components and all associated handling/support equipment. Provide support to PSSE handling team during all Pier PSSE handling evolutions, verifying all handling equipment, associated lifting equipment and non-PSSE equipment and vehicles, such as forklifts, bomb carts, etc. have the proper maintenance completed and current certification. Provide SME support for Missile Tube Loading/Handling Maintenance Platform, ballast cans, AURES, AURS, AURVS, TOTEMS, and MK 48 shapes handling evolutions and verifying all items are prepared and loaded on appropriate transfer vehicles to support scheduled handling evolutions.
Provide Non-Ordnance Handling Coordination (Norfolk, VA) to perform the following:
Attend weekly CSS-6/8 pier de-confliction meeting.
Coordinate Non-ordnance Handling evolutions between MARMC, CSS-6/8 and Naval Munitions Command (NMC)
Submit weekly Non-ordnance Handling schedule to MARMC and CSS-6/8.
Submit required form to NMC requesting CLS and Torpedo Tube Launched (TTL) Handling equipment required for Non-ordnance Handling
Provide assistance with the transportation of hull-owned equipment ( i.e.the VACL Berthing Module) to/from the waterfront for use by submarines. Transport shall be limited to within 200 miles.
Minimum requirements:
A minimum of 2 years’ full-time hands-on technical experience in the operation, maintenance, installation, test, and/or repair of PSSE incorporated in Submarine PSSE Non-Ordnance Handling systems. Experience shall have been gained within the last 10 years.
Must have an active secret US government clearance. Note: US citizenship is required to maintain a secret clearance.
