Role Title: Acquisition Sustainment Unit Lead
Role Description:
This position will act as the team’s lead for the delivered in-service support system’s Supply and Training Support streams, supporting both Governance and Assurance and PSI functions for the Commonwealth enterprise. The ASU team will provide Product Support Integrator (PSI) functions, responsible for coordinating and integrating the various elements of a sustainment program, across the various stakeholders. Provide ILS expertise to enable establishment and operation of the AIR6500 IAMD C2 Program’s new Sustainment Management Unit.
The focus of this team in the coming 12 months will be on supporting AIR6500’s introduction into service of the new Joint Air Battle Management System (JABMS), establishment of the sustainment enterprise and initial sustainment program activities. This team will coordinate Product Management integration activities across AIR6500, S&CSPO, SRG, industry partners and other Defence suppliers (other SPOs).
Duties include;
• Act as an ILS SME to support the Introduction into Service (IIS) and sustainment program activities as directed by Sustainment Management Unit Lead.
• Complete assigned tasks Sustainment Management Unit’s Implementation/Stand-up POAM and Sustainment System Dashboard to support team health/readiness and governance/reporting requirements.
• Coordinate support system integration activities across AIR6500, CAF14, CELGU, SRG and industry stakeholders.
• Facilitate governance, reporting and assurance activities for the support system.
• Lead Supply and Training support stream governance and assurance activities associated with ASU stand-up and initial sustainment operations – in consultation with AIR6500 ILS/GFX teams and Industry providers.
• Coordinate Government Furnished Equipment (GFX) sustainment readiness activities – in consultation with AIR6500 GFX team based on SLA/MOU arrangements.
• Support planning and implementation of Support System interface to end-user, including drafting updates to CoA Orders, Instructions and Procedures – in consultation with HQ SRG and S&CSPO teams.
• Coordinate Logistics Information Systems Administration requirements (e.g. ERP) to support sustainment program readiness in conjunction with S&CSPO, AIR6500 and support agencies.
• Provide advice on risks, issues, opportunities and mitigation strategies associated with ASU stand-up and the new sustainment program.
• Actively participate in assigned AIR6500 program meetings and Working Groups / IPTs to support transition to service and initial sustainment.
• Facilitate Tabletop Exercise / Day in the Life (DITL) Events to support sustainment program readiness reviews.
• Provide support to organisational change management for Agile and new support system (education program).
Essential Requirements:
- Eligible to access US Export Controlled (ITAR) information
- Tertiary Engineering Qualification
- Able to attend RAAF Williamtown 5 days per week
- Worked in complex acquisition or sustainment environments
- Experience in Defence ILS/IPS practice

- Strong Stakeholder engagement skills
