The Aircraft Maintenance Planner manages and coordinates aircraft scheduling, maintains aircraft forms and records, and performs quality management oversight on aircraft maintenance actions to ensure compliance.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Acts as the aircraft scheduling focal point.
- Develops operational and maintenance scheduling requirements for all assigned aerospace vehicles, engines, and related support equipment into long range, quarterly, monthly, weekly and daily plans to make efficient use of resources.
- Ensures the Production Superintendent and Maintenance Supervision are advised of maintenance capability, problem areas, and adherence to production schedules.
- Represents Maintenance Supervision in coordinating aircraft and equipment utilization, sortie rates and flying hour program with Operations.
- Responsible for the day-to-day operations of an aircraft Plans and Scheduling office in accordance with AFI 21-101 and other applicable instructions
- Utilize the current management information system(s) to maintain aircraft forms and records as required by customer.
- Draft and submit aircraft/engine management and Inventory Reporting System reports in a timely manner.
- Prepare weekly, monthly, yearly reports as assigned.
- Process readiness documents, administer the aircraft configuration status accounting program and verify aircraft utilization reports.
- Monitor aircraft configuration status, weight and balance and aircraft inventory data for accuracy.
- Assist in preparation of the Monthly Maintenance Plan.
- Monitor, verify and log Support Equipment Custody records, Aviation Armament Equipment, aircraft inventory records and Technical Directives as applicable.
- Performs other duties related to the occupational field as assigned, to include temporary duty (TDY) and travel assignments as required.
- Must be able to work the day, swing, night, and/or weekend shifts as required.
- Performs In-process inspections required during performance of maintenance and actions where satisfactory task performance cannot be determined after the task has been completed.
- Performs quality management oversight on aircraft maintenance actions to ensure compliance with applicable technical manuals, detects negative trends, develops corrective action plans and ensures completion and satisfactory results.
- Keeps Leadership abreast of quality of maintenance status and issues.
- Utilize the current management information system(s) to maintain aircraft forms and records as required by customer.
- Draft and submit aircraft/engine management and Inventory Reporting System reports in a timely manner.
- Briefs and debriefs pilots and crewmembers assigned to functional check flights on aircraft.
- Process readiness documents, administer the aircraft configuration status accounting program and verify aircraft utilization reports.
- Monitor aircraft configuration status, weight and balance and aircraft inventory data for accuracy.
- Assist in preparation of the Monthly Maintenance Plan.
- Monitor, verify and log Support Equipment Custody records, Aviation Armament Equipment, aircraft inventory records and Technical Directives as applicable.
- Perform all other position related duties as assigned or requested.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Must complete and pass Internal Quality Auditor Certification.
- Must have an FAA Airframe & Powerplant (A&P) License
- Minimum of four years’ experience in plans, scheduling and documentation functions.
- Minimum of three years of T6 aircraft experience.
- Exceptional communication skills, leadership abilities, and personnel management skills are required.
- Must be familiar with Maintenance Information System (MIS) to retrieve and input information.
- Must be proficient in personal computer use to include a working knowledge of MS Office.
- Must have a strong working knowledge of the Maintenance Information System (MIS).
- Must possess strong oral and written communication skills and be capable of working in an exceptionally dynamic scheduling environment.
- Must be a U.S. Citizen
Preferred Qualifications:
- FAA Inspection Authorization (IA) desired
