Amentum, a global leader in advanced engineering, technical, and professional services serving the US government, allies, and critical infrastructure sectors, is seeking an Airfield Electronics Technician to support a unique US Navy program based on the island of Diego Garcia. This role involves ensuring Air Traffic Control (ATC) systems meet operational standards and government requirements through routine inspections and certifications. The Airfield Electronics Technician ensures compliance with OPNAVINST 3721.5 and the Shore ATC Systems Maintenance Policy while supporting critical airfield operations.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Conduct ground inspections to ensure that all ATC systems are operating within baseline standards, tolerances, and government superseding requirements.
  • Perform installation, maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting of ATC systems and equipment in accordance with OPNAVINST 3721.5 and the Shore ATC Systems Maintenance Policy.
  • Verify ATC systems are operating efficiently and in compliance with FAA specifications and technical manuals.
  • Serve as a Qualified Airfield Electronics Technician designated in writing by the Ground Electronics Maintenance Officer (GEMO) for each system on which you are qualified.
  • Ensure ATC systems and supporting equipment are maintained, calibrated, and aligned for optimal performance.
  • Collaborate closely with the Ground Electronics Maintenance Officer (GEMO) to review inspection findings, equipment performance, and prepare systems for FAA certifications.
  • Conduct FAA flight checks and certifications on ATC systems equipment in compliance with OPNAVINST 3721.5 and the Shore ATC Systems Maintenance Policy.
  • Create and maintain detailed documentation, inspection logs, maintenance records, and reports on system performance and repairs.
  • Ensure strict adherence to all safety standards, operational procedures, and regulations while handling sensitive and critical ATC systems and equipment.
  • Provide training and guidance for qualified personnel in the inspection, certification, and maintenance of ATC systems.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Documented qualifications and experience as a Qualified Airfield Electronics Technician in accordance with OPNAVINST 3721.5 and the Shore ATC Systems Maintenance Policy.
  • Demonstrated ability to verify that all ATC systems meet baseline standards and government requirements during ground inspections.
  • Minimum of two personnel qualifications to conduct FAA flight checks and certifications of all current ATC systems equipment.
  • Designation in writing by the Ground Electronics Maintenance Officer (GEMO) for each system on which you are qualified.
  • 3-5 years of direct experience in the maintenance, repair, and certification of airfield/ATC systems.
  • High school diploma or equivalent; additional technical certifications related to electronics, avionics, or systems maintenance are preferred.
  • Proficiency with the use of diagnostic tools, technical manuals, schematics, and electronic testing equipment.
  • Strong understanding of FAA standards, OPNAVINST regulations, and ATC systems maintenance policies.
  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to maintain a high standard of safety and precision in all work.
  • Must be in possession of a valid passport and be able to travel internationally.
  • Passport should be valid for a minimum of one (1) year or more at the time of hiring.
  • Ability to successfully pass contract medical requirements and maintain qualifications for the duration of deployment.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain facility credentials/authorization. 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prior experience in an austere OCONUS (Outside the Continental United States) environment with a multi-national workforce is preferred.
  • Valid country driver’s license and passport.
  • Country visa (as required in line with the U.S. Department of State Foreign Clearance Guide).
  • Advanced technical training or certifications in ATC systems or avionics.
  • Strong knowledge of ATC/Airport operations and procedures related to NAVLAW, ICAO, and FAA regulations.
  • Experience working in a U.S. Navy or military aviation support environment.
  • Exceptional problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot complex electronic systems.
  • Demonstrated expertise in precision calibration and alignment of ATC equipment to meet operational standards.
