Amentum is looking for an AutoCAD Operator/Tech Librarian to join our #pecan team!

Essential Responsibilities:

The AutoCAD/Tech Librarian is responsible for maintaining and managing technical drawings, AutoCAD files, and associated documentation to ensure accurate and organized storage, retrieval, and usage for facility operations, construction projects, and technical reference. This role requires expertise in database management, AutoCAD software, and technical library systems to support engineering, maintenance, and operations teams effectively. Primary responsibilities include:

  • Technical Document Management:
    • Maintain an organized library of technical documents, including AutoCAD files, blueprints, schematics, technical manuals, specifications, and as-built drawings.
    • Ensure accurate documentation updates on all drawings and technical references to reflect changes, modifications, or new installations.
    • Implement version control to track revisions and maintain document integrity.
  • AutoCAD Drawing Creation & Modification:
    • Create, update, and modify AutoCAD drawings to support facility operations, maintenance, and project needs.
    • Interpret and incorporate markups, redlines, and field changes into existing drawings.
    • Assist with design and layout development for small-scale projects or facility updates using AutoCAD software.
  • Collaboration with Teams:
    • Coordinate with engineers, project managers, and maintenance teams to ensure the accuracy of drawings and document support.
    • Provide technical drawing assistance to team members, contractors, and external stakeholders as needed.
    • Support facility upgrades or renovations by consolidating and organizing relevant technical data.
  • Library & Database Management:
    • Organize, catalog, and index AutoCAD files and technical manuals in a structured digital and/or physical library system for easy access and retrieval.
    • Maintain technical library databases, including metadata, to ensure quick location of information.
    • Identify and implement improvements in document storage and access workflows for efficiency.
  • Compliance & Standards Management:
    • Ensure that all AutoCAD drawings and technical documents comply with applicable codes, standards, and regulations.
    • Enforce established document control procedures to maintain uniformity and compliance across all records.
  • Training & Support:
    • Provide training and guidance to team members on how to access and use the technical library system and AutoCAD software.
    • Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to drawing access, file formats, or document retrieval.
  • Backup & Safeguard Systems:
    • Ensure proper backup and safeguarding of digital files to prevent loss or damage to critical technical records.
    • Archive outdated drawings and documents appropriately while maintaining accessibility as needed.

Work Environment, Physical Demands, and Mental Demands:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is primarily exposed to an office environment with occasional visits to facilities or project sites that may involve:

  • Exposure to mechanical and electrical system areas when verifying technical information.
  • Occasional handling of physical files, manuals, and storage containers in technical documentation libraries.
  • Use of a computer for extended periods to manage AutoCAD files and technical records.

The position requires:

  • Periodic bending, stooping, kneeling, or climbing small ladders to access stored materials.
  • Lifting and moving files, drawings, or technical documents weighing up to 40 pounds.
  • Eye-hand coordination for precise modifications to AutoCAD drawings and technical files.
  • Strong organizational and attention-to-detail skills to ensure accuracy and consistency in managing large numbers of files and documents.

Minimum Requirements (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities):

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Two (2) years of experience in AutoCAD drafting, drawing management, or technical library operations.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD software, including the ability to create, modify, and maintain technical drawings.
  • Knowledge of engineering or facilities management documents, such as as-built drawings, blueprints, and schematics.
  • Familiarity with database or document management systems for organizing and indexing digital/physical files.
  • Ability to interpret technical instructions, specifications, blueprints, and engineering drawings.
  • Strong organizational skills to manage a large volume of documents while ensuring accuracy and accessibility.
  • Familiarity with basic mathematical functions for technical drafting and file management as required.

Clearance Required (If Applicable):

  • TS/SCI with Poly

Minimum Education:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.

Minimum Years of Experience:

  • At least two (2) years of experience in AutoCAD drafting, document management, or related technical roles.

Required Certifications (If Needed):

  • Proficiency certification or demonstrated training in AutoCAD.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Associate Degree or Technical Certification in Computer-Aided Drafting (CAD), Engineering Technology, or a related field.
  • Experience managing technical libraries or working in document control in engineering or facilities management environments.
  • Knowledge of compliance standards and codes, including those associated with facility or construction industries.
  • Experience with other software related to technical documentation management (e.g., Revit, BIM software, or database tools).
  • Familiarity with project management tools or workflows in an engineering or operational setting.

       

Service Contract Act (SCA) Compensation & Benefits:

This is an hourly, overtime-eligible position that falls under the Service Contract Act (SCA). In accordance with the Health and Welfare provisions of the SCA, and in addition to your base hourly rate, you may be eligible to receive an additional health and welfare payment for each hour you work to ensure compliance with the minimums set forth by the act. The amount you are entitled to receive will vary depending upon the fringe benefits you select now and in the future.

       

Compensation Details:

$40,000 to $90,000

Actual compensation may vary based on factors such as job responsibilities, education, experience, skills, internal equity, market data, applicable collective bargaining agreements, and relevant laws.
