Job Summary
Under general supervision, the MWR Technician – Bar Tenders coordinates activities required to operate Morale, Welfare, and Recreation (MWR) facilities
Principal Accountabilities
(Typical duties include the following, although specific duties vary by assignment or contract.)
· Must meet the installation's minimum serving age (21) for alcoholic beverages
· Capable of pouring and serving drinks such as beer and wine
· Capable of mixing drinks according to the establishment’s specified recipes
· Capable of preparing garnishes
· Understand alcohol safety procedures to prevent over-intoxication
· Knowledge of basic bar terminology
· Capable of standing for several hours at a time
· Understands state’s laws for required identification prior to serving alcoholic beverages
· Able to properly handle intoxicated patrons according to established guidelines
· Manage purchases of alcohol using point of sale software and cash register
· Describe and serve dishes from the establishment’s food menu
· Clean bar tools, glassware, utensils and equipment
· Good customer service skills
· Limit the liability of drunken patrons by managing excess serving of alcohol and taking steps to prevent customers from excessive intoxication and drunk driving
· Ability to follow sanitation procedures pursuant to IAW with Army and Preventative Med requirements
· Ability to follow all Procedures, Processes, and Policies
· Performs other duties as assigned
Knowledge & Skills
· CPR and first aid certification is preferred
· Knowledge of exercise science, health and fitness
· Good interpersonal and customer service skills
Experience & Education
· High school diploma or equivalent.
· Minimum two (2) years’ experience involving the coordination of organized team sports, recreation club activities, and social event scheduling. MWR armed forces experience preferred
Physical Requirements/Working Environment
· Living and working conditions at the assignment location could be remote and uncomfortable.
· Long hours, exposure to weather and hazardous conditions.
· Personnel should be aware of moving on short notice and under adverse conditions.
