The Blocker and Bracer secures cargo in or aboard cargo carriers such as trucks, vans,  trailers, railroad cars, sea vans, barges and ships to prevent damage during its transportation,  determines appropriate lumber size and kind and prepares the lumber required for braces, chocks, blocks, beams, planking, cribbing, skids, cradles, saddles, etc., using hand and power  tools. This position nails, spikes, bolts, or fastens with wood screws or lag screws supporting and  bracing fixtures to secure cargo items, constructs weatherproof shelters over some types of deck  loads, guys, lashes and binds heavy equipment to pad eyes, rings, eyelets, hooks, stanchions,  cleats, or other supporting fixtures using chains, ropes, cable, wires or metal straps. This position constructs temporary trestles, decking, bulkheads, cribbing and sheathing, and cuts dunnage to support, stiffen, or separate bulky or heavy cargo. 

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Block and brace vehicles IAW AMC Drawings.

  • Issues, stores, inventories and perform location maintenance on all storage locations of ammunition and residue.

  • Inspect vehicles.

  • Conducts 100% location surveys and 100% inventories.

  • Complies with published policy, procedures and regulatory guidance for the receipt, storage, issue, and disposition of ammunition.

  • Complies with customer identification procedures.

  • Performs accurate document editing procedures.

  • Maintains and updates magazine data cards, ammunition store slips, storage plan-o-graphs and other related documents.

  • Performs general housekeeping duties and maintenance of outside/inside the ASP.

  • Loads / off loads vehicles and operates MHE up to 10K and other warehouse equipment.

  • Participates in the Company Continuous Improvement Process (CIP) and QA Programs.

  • Mentors and assists with on-the-job training and cross-training.

  • Trains, cross trains and attends training sessions as required.

  • Complies with all Company rules, policies and procedures.

  • Complies with all safety, environmental & quality standards & applicable COPs & DOPs.

  • Provides for the accountability and proper care of all GFE / CFE.

  • Favorably interacts with internal / external customers.

  • May be required to perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Position Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.

  • Two or more years’ experience in Ammunition handling experience military or civilian equivalent

  • One or more years’ supply and warehouse functions.

  • Have or must pass the DOD Introduction to Ammunition (Ammo-45)

  • Have or must pass the DOD Technical Transportation of Hazardous Materials (Ammo-62) 

  • Have or must pass the DOD Hazmat General Awareness and Familiarization Training (Ammo-67) 

  • Must be able to speak, read and write English fluently.

  • Must possess a valid Louisiana class D driver’s license.

  • Must be able to obtain a military operator’s permit for each type of vehicle or equipment required to perform all FDP Activity functions including MHE (forklifts up to 15K). 

  • Must be authorized to work in the US. 

  • Must have a Secret clearance or ability to obtain maintain applicable security clearance. 

  • Knowledgeable in ammunition handling, storage, procedures and regulations.

  • Must have specific knowledge in storage and warehouse functions.

  • Must understand and be able to use Technical Manuals.

  • Must be able to comply with AMC Drawings and build according

  • Must be able to use hammer, nails, wedges, power tools.

Work Environment, Physical Demands, and Mental Demands:

  • Must be able to lift 50 lbs or more with or without accommodation.

  • Must utilize all proper lifting procedures and practices.

  • Must wear appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)

  • Must be able to work at heights.

  • Must be able to work under pressure and strenuous conditions.

  • Must be able to meet short suspense dates.

  • Must be able to conduct work in the out-of-doors area with potential exposure to extreme climatic conditions i.e. extreme temperatures, low humidity, rain and blowing sand and dust. 

  • Must be able to withstand prolonged periods of stooping; climbing; standing; and sitting for long periods of uninterrupted time.    

  • May require shift work. 

  • May be required to work an uncommon tour of duty including nights, weekends, and holidays.  

  • During the usual work period, the worker may be exposed to sounds and noise levels that are distracting and uncomfortable.

Compensation Details:

US: $27.09
