Overview:

Amentum is seeking a talented and motivated Business Development Intern with a passion for business strategy, data analysis, and emerging technologies like Artificial Intelligence (AI). This internship offers a unique opportunity to gain real-world experience in one of the world’s largest and most respected government services companies. The intern will work closely with subject matter experts (SMEs) from across the organization to develop Return on Investment (ROI) models that demonstrate the value of AI technologies in driving quality improvements and cost reductions within Amentum’s business development operations.

This internship is designed for a motivated Business major who has an interest in AI applications and a knack for data analysis, financial modeling, and value assessment. Interns will gain hands-on experience contributing to high-value business initiatives, collaborating with seasoned professionals, and seeing the impact of their work on organizational growth and strategy.

Key Responsibilities:

  • AI Modeling & ROI Development:
  • Work with SMEs and Business Development (BD) teams to analyze how Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning can be implemented to improve processes, reduce costs, and drive operational excellence.
  • Research and build ROI models quantifying the financial and strategic impacts of AI solutions, particularly focusing on quality improvements and cost savings.
  • Identify key metrics and performance measures to assess AI value propositions and align with Amentum’s business objectives.
  • Customer-Focused Analysis:
  • Assist in identifying and evaluating use cases where AI can deliver benefits to Amentum's customers or improve success in large bids and proposals.
  • Support the development of business case presentations for leadership review using data-driven insights and AI value analysis.
  • Collaboration with SMEs:
  • Partner with internal technical SMEs from various business areas to understand existing processes and explore opportunities to integrate AI solutions.
  • Work closely with functional teams to gather input, validate assumptions, and ensure ROI models are aligned with organizational objectives and goals.
  • Research & Market Analysis:
  • Conduct research on advancements, trends, and best practices in AI across the defense and government services industry.
  • Analyze competitor strategies and market conditions for innovative AI applications in similar industry sectors.
  • Presentation & Reporting:
  • Consolidate findings into clear, concise reports and presentations for internal stakeholders.
  • Develop compelling visuals, dashboards, and charts to communicate key messages and insights to Amentum’s leadership.

Required Qualifications:

  • Education and Interest:
  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (e.g., Business Administration, Finance, Economics, Data Analytics, or a related discipline).
  • Demonstrated strong interest or academic exposure to Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, or other emerging technologies and their business applications.
  • Skills & Competencies:
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel and PowerPoint (experience with creating presentations and financial analysis).
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret data, calculate ROI, and present comprehensive business cases.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to work effectively in both individual and team settings.
  • A keen interest in the integration of business and technology to solve problems and improve efficiency.
  • Work Environment:
  • Ability to work remotely and collaborate virtually with diverse teams across different time zones.
  • Willingness to travel occasionally for team meetings or customer engagements, if needed.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Coursework, certification, or hands-on experience in data analytics tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau) is a plus.
  • Basic knowledge or interest in programming languages (e.g., Python, R) for AI applications is highly desirable.
  • Familiarity with government contracting, business development processes, or cost/price analysis is a bonus.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to engage and collaborate with cross-functional teams and senior management effectively.

Additional Information:

  • Internship Duration: This internship will last approximately 10-12 weeks during the summer (or appropriate academic term) with a potential to extend based on academic schedules and performance.
  • Work Schedule: Flexible schedule to accommodate coursework, with standard work week of approximately 20-40 hours per week

       

Compensation Details:

20-25
