This is a trades position primarily based at the Baghdad Service Center in Baghdad, Iraq and will be a part of the Light Construction Crew (LCC).

The Carpenter performs the carpentry duties necessary to maintain in good repair building woodwork and equipment such as bins, counters, benches, partitions, doors, floors, stairs, casings, and trim made of wood. 

The Carpenter will:

  • Be responsible for the planning and laying out of work from blueprints, drawings, models, or verbal instructions, using a variety of carpenter's hand tools, portable power tools and standard measuring instruments
  • Make standard shop computations relating to dimensions of work
  • Select materials necessary for the work
  • Cut, shape, and assemble wooden articles or set up and operate a variety of woodworking machines, such as power saws, jointers, and mortisers to surface, cut, or shape lumber or to fabricate parts for wood products
  • Prepare and submit detailed reports on carpentry projects for the LCC Supervisor
  • Performs other duties and activities as directed

Qualifications:

  • Must have a high school diploma (or GED).
  • United States Citizenship is required for this position
  • Requires an active DOD or DOS Secret security clearance and maintain eligibility for the duration of the contract
  • Requires a State License or Certification from home state or equivalent combination of verifiable education and experience.
  • A minimum of three years compatible carpentry experience at the Journeyman level, in an overseas environment is required.
  • Must be capable of independently completing trim, window installations, framing, and finishing
  • Previous experience working with PAE preferred
  • Previous out of home country experience is highly desirable and previous work experience in harsh environmental conditions is a plus
  • Strongly preferred is extensive experience with air cooled chillers with screw compressors 
  • Knowledge of ALL principles and processes involved in supporting Carpentry functions at an overseas facility is required
  • Must have knowledge of principles and processes for providing excellent customer services
  • Requires the ability to work in a fast-paced environment that requires handling multiple tasks at a given time and rapidly adapting to changing priorities and schedules
  • Cross-cultural sensitivity with an international perspective is required
  • Must have excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Requires advanced knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel
  • The ability to become an active and functioning member of a team is required
  • Must have the ability to be innovative and be an agent for change
  • Professional English communication skills, both oral and written are required
  • Must favorably complete a drug screen and physical examination
