The successful candidate will join the IDIQ & Construction Services Directorate to support the Center Maintenance, Operations, and Engineering Contract (CMOE) located at NASA Langley Research Center. The Construction Field Service (CFS) Representative reports directly to the CFS Supervisor.

All work will be performed with a high standard of quality and professionalism.  All safety policies and procedures must be followed.

Position requires, completion of a Department of Professional and Occupational Regulation (DPOR) Apprenticeship program with a minimum of (10) years of related construction experience. Additional relevant education or construction experience may be substituted for any equivalent combination of education/experience for a total of ten (10) years.

Proficient knowledge of Mechanical systems a must. Demonstrated ability to lead and direct work of others. Position requires comprehensive knowledge of curricula gained through long and varied work experience in field of specialty. Must be able to effectively communicate both orally and written with effective use of visual aids.

Demonstrate leadership ability, along with good communication skills are required.  Must be efficient in the use of Microsoft Office tools including Word, Excel, Outlook, and MS Project.

Daily project scheduling, technical review of submittals, coordination of subcontractor performance and compliance, as well as, coordination of facility access, facility activities and outages, and responsible for overall daily project safety and success. Quality control and specification compliance assurance and the ability to read and interpret drawings is a must.

Mechanical background with strength in rigging, millwright, HVAC, controls, and process piping systems. General with strength in asphalt, concrete, concrete reinforcement, masonry, structural steel, roofing, and interior finishes a plus. Some budget managing of labor hrs.  

Essential Functions:
Work Environment
Test environment - May be exposed to areas of high noise levels, hazardous propellants, explosives, chemicals, and industrial facilities (90%).
Travel between various facilities and during test operations required and may bring exposure to loud noise and potentially hazardous equipment operations (15%)

Facility environment – Wind Tunnels, Testing Laboratories and Facilities, and Administrative.

Physical Requirements

Must be able to walk, stand, bend, twist and sit for extended periods as well as climb, crawl, and lift up to 35 lbs (100%). 

Ability to distinguish basic colors (10%). 

Corrected vision and hearing at all times (100%)
 

Must be able to use the following:
Platform or step ladders up to 12 Ft (30%)
Extension ladders up to 24 Ft (10%)
Personal or one-man aerial lifts up to 30 Ft. (10%)
Articulating or boom aerial lifts up to 35 Ft. (10%)


Equipment and Machines
Personal computers and related equipment (30%).
Safety and personal protective equipment (70%).

Company Vehicle Operation (70%)

Attendance
Regular onsite attendance mandatory (100%).
Occasional overtime/work outside normal schedule may be required (>20%).

  • Employees will exercise diligence when developing a Safe Plan of Action (SPA) for each task performed. Your SPA is a Company provided tool to be used for the prevention of incidents, accidents, and injuries; as such, it is the most important tool that you are required to use.

       

Service Contract Act (SCA) Compensation & Benefits:

This is an hourly, overtime-eligible position that falls under the Service Contract Act (SCA). In accordance with the Health and Welfare provisions of the SCA, and in addition to your base hourly rate, you may be eligible to receive an additional health and welfare payment for each hour you work to ensure compliance with the minimums set forth by the act. The amount you are entitled to receive will vary depending upon the fringe benefits you select now and in the future.
