The Custodian is responsible for the cleanliness of communal spaces, workspaces, and outside areas, as assigned.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Maintain cleanliness of communal space, workspaces, and outside areas, as assigned.
  • Sweep, dust, scrub, strip floors, wax, buff, clean windows, and empty trash cans as assigned.
  • Move and/or relocate furniture.
  • Maintain records and inventory of cleaning supplies and prepares lists of supplies to be purchased.
  • Use cleaning equipment including mops, large wringers, and other necessary equipment, tools, chemicals and supplies.
  • Comply with Foreign Object Damage (FOD), Hazardous Waste and Tool Control Programs.
  • Comply with all established general and industrial Safety rules and regulations as applicable to the contract, facility, and job assignment.
  • Assist as directed to ensure Safety, security and preservation of government / company owned equipment.
  • Perform all other position-related duties as assigned or requested.

Minimum Position Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:

  • High school degree or GED preferred.
  • Must be able to meet any Government / Company licensing / qualification requirements for the position.
  • Able to read, understand and communicate the English language and follow verbal and written instruction.
  • Prefer one year experience janitorial, or custodial experience, and have working knowledge of applicable industrial maintenance equipment, cleaning chemicals and supplies.
  • Required to lift 70 lbs.

Work Environment, Physical Demands, and Mental Demands:

  • Climbing, standing stooping, bending stretching, and working in uncomfortable positions. 
  • The diversity of working conditions may range from standard shop type environment where there may be no physical discomfort to an environment where inclement weather may subject individual to severe changes in temperature, wind, rain, etc.
  • May be required to work in high noise hazards area. Required to handle hazardous materials.
  • Required to wear protective clothing and Personal Protective Equipment.
