In support of a challenging, critical, and rewarding program that provides integrated voice, video, and data services throughout the Information Technology lifecycle, Amentum is seeking a Deputy Lead Customer Project Manager to join our dynamic team of IT professionals dedicated to fostering a positive and collaborative work environment. You must be a critical thinker, have a strong work ethic, and be able to work independently or as a member of a team in a dynamic environment. We value candidates who are detail-oriented while also being able to think and react quickly to emerging and unique problem sets. To be successful, you must be able to rapidly adapt and learn how to operate the front and back end of new products and processes.

Work Schedule:

  • 5 Days (Mon – Fri); 8 hrs/Day; 40 hrs/wkly

Essential Responsibilities:

The duties and responsibilities of the Deputy Lead Customer Project Manager include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Provide direct support, guidance, and mentorship to a team of geographically dispersed Project Managers, driving cross-functional coordination across large-scale or complex project segments.
  • Develop and implement standardized project management templates, reporting cadences, and industry best practices to ensure consistency across the PM team.
  • Conduct periodic audits of project processes and documentation to ensure contract compliance and mission readiness.
  • Serve as the first point of escalation for complex technical issues within the project portfolio, coordinating across various functional areas for resolution.
  • Aggregate data from across the customer portfolios to prepare project documentation, reports, and executive-level briefings.
  • Analyze new and complex project-related challenges and develop innovative solutions in areas such as finance, scheduling, technology, and methodologies.
  • Provide systems analysis, customer coordination, and liaison support for troubleshooting site outages and maintenance requests for government sites, facilities, or distributed locations.
  • Oversee all aspects of assigned projects, including scope, schedule, cost, quality, communication, risk, and stakeholder engagement.

Minimum Requirements (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities):

  • Must have active Top-Secret clearance with SCI or the ability to acquire Top Secret/SCI    
  • 10 years of project management experience, with at least 5 years in a leadership of supervisory capacity withing the DoD/IC environment.
  • Proven experience managing or leading teams of 10+ personnel across large-scale or complex projects, preferably in government or regulated environments.
  • Strong understanding of project management methodologies (e.g., PMBOK, Agile, etc.).
  • Ability to analyze complex technical and operational problems and deliver effective, innovative solutions.
  • Experience with IT support planning and IT systems (i.e. Routers, Switches, TACLANEs).
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills.
  • Familiarity with IT Service Management tools (ServiceNow)
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Must be able to work a 40-hour work week, normally Monday through Friday  
  • Ability to work overtime during critical peaks and be available to meet last-minute requests for overtime if needed  
  • Ability to travel (5-10%) primarily within 75 miles  
  • Familiarity with MS Office applications such as Excel, Word, Outlook, SharePoint, Project and Visio    
  • Exceptional attention to detail; excellent verbal and written communication skills; strong critical thinking, organizational, time-management, and problem-solving skills  
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team in a dynamic environment

Security Clearance Required:

Must have active Top-Secret clearance with SCI or TS with the ability to acquire SCI

Minimum Education: Bachelor’s degree in business, Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field

Minimum Years of Experience:

10 years of relevant experience

Required Certifications:

Project Management Professional (PMP) or equivalent certification

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with federal acquisition and contracting processes
  • Knowledge of ITIL, CMMI, or similar IT process frameworks.
  • Background in enterprise-level system modernization or digital transformation projects.
